Why has Baja Nomad become such a depressing place?
I haven't had much time recently to frequent this website, but I am noticing how depressing so many posts have become. Its become such a negative
place, that I'm losing interest - which is sad. I love visiting my friends in Tijuana, San Felipe is a great vacation spot, as is Gonzaga Bay and
L.A. Bay. But, the board in general is a real downer. Prozac anyone?
Hey. World health officials gave props to Mexico for its response to the flu outbreak. Since the alert level has recently been raised, officials have
criticized other countries, especially in Europe for not taking the measures as did Mexico. That's positive.
Look forward to seeing you and your friends along with FTD and family in December/January at the toy drive in Tijuana.
It was an incredible event that so many Baja Nomad's particpated in. Perhaps this year more will have time to join us. I still think of how great
everyone was who helped in so many ways. The kids sure appreciated everything.
I have not been to Baja this year and sure do miss it. I was comfortable at the Tijuana toy drive, and have no fear of the flu. When I have time I
will make the trip.

The Toy Drive was the coolest. It provided so much positivity for the people of Baja, and Baja Nomad in general.
depression, yes i feel it....as i havent been to baja in over a year and i feel like a sick person who needs their meds....i am so thankful for the
people that post all the baja pics and trip reports here because its always an inspiration, some of the bickering and b.s. have always been going on
here since i can first remember logging on to this site, but i believe there are some genuinely great characters on this board that give u a true sense
of what baja is all about
Aside from the few lame responses I have recieved. I couldn't be farther from depressed after reading through this site. Maybe its my newbie eyes to
the baja way, or just the excitement of meeting all of you for the first time, but I need downers just to get to sleep at night thinking about baja.
lol
Well, here's a positive post. Three weeks ago I rode my KLR650 from home on the central coast 1000 miles south to Mulege and then on to Loreto with
side trips to San Javier and to visit rancher friends in the Sierra Guadalupe. Highway was emptier of traffic than 25 years ago. People were
friendly, soldiers efficient and courteous at the checkpoints and rooms and meals were inexpensive. Beaches were mostly empty, water was warm. I got
to see many old friends in Mulege where my children and I had lived back in the mid-70's. Trip could not have been better except for being a little
hot but that was expected. Put 2500 miles on the bike in 10 days with no spills, flats or breakdowns. Life is good!!
Well, I'm having a wonderful baja weekend...last night my good amigos brought me over a heaping plate of BBQ Burro and I'm in carnivore heaven right
now. I was wondering if I loved this meat so much when I tried it at new years because I was rather....ummm....boracha. But this new batch of baby
burro ribs is OMG...the BEST meat I have ever tasted ever anywhere in the world...I mean really special.
The chef suggested that we invite our guests on weekends for a special BBQ at their ranch so they could see the process and how they cook it
etc....hmm...maybe some of you would love this...we can ride the horses and you can even go on a burro roundup if ya want.
this family is also planting organic crops this season for a market garden type business...excellent news.
This morning Zoe and I had a wonderful walk on the beach...not one other person for miles.
Then Juan made the best octopus salad I have ever tasted too...baja...it's all about the food.....ahhhh baja....a POSITIVELY wonderful place.
In answer your question, knowledge is half the battle.
The realization of the knowledge that there are many forces at work to harm the general public, that not all our police, government, private industry
or developers are honest, or working for the collective good, is a start, is at first depressing, it's the first step.
The next step is use your power to make changes for the good of the community. Do it and have fun.

up.....
Point proved. Thanks for adding, Jim. I wanted to know if it was just me, or was the place a general downer.
