The Baja Bible!
Is there a book that is considered the Bible for RVing in Baja? On the Mainland we use Church's RVing Book. Help me with a recommendation so I don't
drive you crazy with questions.
Thanks,

The AAA travel book has been somewhat helpful.
The Baja Almanac is the "bible" of maps. It is out of print, but the new edition is supposedly at the printers and available in Aug??????
Transpeninsula outfitters online has a great collection of links of reputable service providers.
I saw you were asking for riding areas. I had a blast last week from Campo Rene all the way up to San Roque above Asuncion. The vigilancia did not
allow me to travel north of san Roque. They were pretty on the ball.
If you u2u to rts551 he is very knowledgable about riding the area and he's a "Zonie" too
You will have a blast!
No worries

Are you from the RVNET? Don't check there often since we sold our little trailer and my memory just ain't what it used to be.
Church has one for Baja and then there is the DVD and I feel just awful I have forgotten their names---they made one for the beach areas of
Mexico---Kevin??? I should know as I communicated with them a lot. Sometimers disease. I do remember that on the RVNET they are tahoenow
However, like the mainland, lots of things change quickly in Baja---so, my suggestion would be, check out the Church book and the DVD, also look at
one of the tour guide books like the Lonely Planet or Moon publications and then---------
Then, on this forum and the TalkBaja forum, write up what you are driving and your priorities---willing to do dirt roads etc. Then start asking
specific questions about certain areas and help will come your way.
Baja is quite different from the mainland---both great places, just different.

Tis a great area if you like the dirt roads, but then again, I am just a little biased.

Our very first trip down to CSL we had a copy of "Baja Handbook"
I don't recall who wrote it
Its a km by km guide all the way down
Tells you what to look for on just about every corner
Gives a good history of each town you go thru
We lent it out one to many times...But sure appreciated it on those early
trips

Umm...
Walt Peterson wrote 'The Baja Adventure Book' and 'Exploring Baja by RV'...
Jack Williams wrote 'The Magnificent Peninsula'
All three are good, but The Baja Adventure Book is the best if you want to find the hidden treasures of Baja inclucing old mines, caves, etc.
Walt's RV book is probably closer to what Rocmoc is seeking.
There is no one book, Rocmoc... You need several to cover as much as possible.

rocky point in 1980.

I think it was a different book, Tim... The Baja Handbook by James T. Crow (1973) was more of a camping how-to book made before the highway was built/
finished... In fact, it was a good book, but the highway changed the focus of books on Baja starting in 1974.
I think you are thinking of Tom Miller's 'The Baja Book' or Jack Williams 'The Magnificent Peninsula' if after the highway was finished?

Tom Miller's book was the most popular Baja guide from 1974 on... for many years... Tom published three editions and Ginger Potter wrote the 4th
edition following Tom's death.
