Cost of Beer?
What's the approximate cost of a case of Pacifico/Corona (qty 20?) in San Felipe nowadays? Is it worth buying down there and dealing with all the
deposit stuff or just buying in San Diego and having it ice cold in my cooler on arrival?

you're limited on what you can import if you're checked.
beer is cheap in mexico - way more so than in US i think.
i'd ice down what i would consume on the drive and once there re stock.
the returnables are easy to manage. get 2 cases and you'll always have a spare case to drink when you're cycling in a new round.
man it's hot out.....hmmmm....beer......

The deposit cases are packed 24 now. Don't know the price because I quit messing with them long ago. Just a smelly hassle to have them hanging
around.
Here, in Ensenada, a twelve pak of cans is around 115 pesos at the big grocery stores. That's roughly $8.25 including tax. Not bad.

I believe I bought a few 6 packs of Klostner for around $2.25 usd in Ensenada. Not bad. Keep it cold!

24 pack of Corona at Costco in Mexicali is about US$15. Try to get that deal in San Diego!

Those would be non-returnable, Sí? Can't imagine Costco dealing with the returns.
By the way, Corona for free is still not a "deal" IMO, of course.

That would be a case of cans. Costco does carry bottles but at a higher price. Costco also has Pacifico for about the same price as Corona. Friends
don't let friends drink Corona! I buy a 24 pack of Tecate cans (reg. and lite) for around US$12/13 at Costco in Cabo.

Bottles are $24 for 24.
So, I still have not heard what a case of bottles goes for in San Felipe.

Probably a case of Pacifico, 24 bottles, will run 180 pesos. That seems to be the universal price in this part of Baja.
Current exchange rate means $13.65 US
mmmmmm good, mmmmmmm good,

Pacifico 24 is 192 pesos and 12 Ballena is 202.00 pesos with bottles. buy bottles and leave them with a new friend. any other method of purchase is a
waste of money and environmentlly unfriendly to Baja. No damn cans and no damn non-returnables...
yo lo siento mrfatboy...yo soy fatAlbert...mio Español sucks, but I try.
PS...open case at Costco and check for returnables...all have been returnables. do not buy if they are non-returnables.
u2u me if in Todos Santos...pacifico no problema.

Um, er, I would do both. Get a 30 pack of your favorite American canned beer. If you're lucky you can find it for $15.99 (Rite Aid next to the
pharmacy section, that's handy doncha know). Get it real cold and drink it and then when you get there buy some Mexican beer.
Stay away from the skunky stuff in clear bottles tho.
Dos Equis is good. I just inhaled one. Pretty green non-returnable bottle. Look it, running out of beer and having to go to the store is hassle
enough, carrying back empties is just too much to deal with.

Nope that price of 180 is with your bottles. Its been too long since I bought a case without bottles to quote you a price.
Price is obvious higher where the tourists hang out.

mr.fatboy,
There is a reliable beer stop just below Mexicali. It's on the right side and literally 100' before the Highway 3 overpass. Next very reliable
Pacifico stop is across from Miramar in San Felipe. Also, next to the bus station below town just before the last Pemex station.
Keep your bottles and you wont have to stop and play the return game.
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

Think you mean the Highway 2 toll road overpass in the south side of Mexicali.

Thanks for the info. I just didn't want to bother with going all the way back into town to return the empties on my way back home. I'm be coming up
for Percebu.

There is not a return policy unless you get a receipt for return to the same store...I wish there was as I have many cases from fun (barracho) events.
If in Todos Santos, I will loan as many empty cases as you need.
