need a hotel around san quintin norte
Bia and i will be needing a hotel for the night somewhere's in the northern suburbs of SQ in the coming weeks. i know about the old mill and jardines
and la pinta south of town and they are too far south. any suggestions?

Woody, they all seem to be south of town... But, a good restaurant on the north side is The Mision Santa Isabel, just before entering town, on the
east side of the highway.

I like Posada Don Diego in Vincente Guerrero. The rooms are clean. The restaurant is very good. I also just installed a Directv dish for them so if
you travel with your Directv receiver then you will have tv in your room. Also a dog friendly place.

They are sports fans there so if there is any kind of sporting event on it will be on the big screen in the restaurant.

Larry, that's good info... Last I knew of Posada Don Diego it was only an RV Park and restaurant... camped there a couple times for Mexico West Travel
Club (Tom & Shirley Miller) events in 1984!

is there any better directions? landmarks?
edit: found it...
Easy take Mexico Hwy. I (which is the only paved road) South. From Ensenada you will drive about 2 hours. When you get to Colonia Vicente Guerrero
at the stop light the only one in town. You will then drive 1 mile south and on the west side of the road on the slight hill you will see a Corona
Beer sign and a Tecate Beer sign the road is just north of the propane plant. Turn on the dirt road and head west pass the first place and we are 1/2
mile in off the hwy. Continue almost in a straight path but you will curve slightly to the left ( do not try to go up the cement road) and follow
west. We are quiet (most of the time) and very safe. We live on the property so someone is always here. I told you we were the friendliest on the
Baja. If your are coming from the south then turn at the end of the propane plant. We are about 12 miles north of San Quintin. Just to everyone drive
careful don't be in a hurry as everyone else in Mexico is in a hurry. Stay safe and enjoy your stay in Mexico .

When you get as far South as Villas de San Quintin, you're only two traffic lights north of the turnoff for Jardines. And there's actually another
nice place right next to Villas. All that being said, I'm not quite sure about Woody's logistics, but it does seem to me that from top to bottom, it's
probably way less than 1/2 hour travel time.

we'll be leaving OB around 4:30pm so i figger north SQ about dark. we'll both be hungry and tired by then so why push on? we're always looking for a
new place to try.

I second Villas de San Quentin Motel very clean and has a resturant and plenty of parking.

I used to recommend Cielito Lindo for San Quintin but....alas...I have stopped doing that and will stay someplace else in the future. The rooms are
around $50 and the food was crappy. The girls at the bar are unfriendly but the music wasn't too bad after a few bohemias. I like walking off my
hangovers on the beach and picking up sanddollars in the morning

Cielito Lindo. You said funky and it is but it has the best beach .You can drive probably 10 miles in both directions.The crab dinner is fantastic
Lots of locals at the happy hour. Last time I saw the sign it said $25.00 a night. The lights go out early. It is on generator power only. Now if you
don't want to stay there the old La Pinta now the Desert Inn is just around the corner, If you have an fm3 you can get their card and get 40% off
your room and 10% off food and drinks. You might be able to get that by showing your fm3 and just asking. Then you can still hit happy hour and dinner
at Cielito Lindo. You can get on the beach from right in front of the hotel. k
Sorry didn't see you didn't like Cielito Lindo but for $25 bucks it might be worth it, or not and they do have a new manager. He is doing better
than the last one and they now have $1.00 breakfast burritos in the patio in the morning. And they have live music on weekends. k

Woody- I completely agree with the new places to try thing. However, if you're hungry when you arrive, Jardines does have a great restaurant. As for
breakfast, I can think of only two places I would go to in San Quintin. First is Viejo San Quintin which is next to the hospital on the West side of
the highway, but because of their setback, is almost impossible to see heading South. It is my understanding that Carmen y Guillermo of jardines own
this place. The other would be The Santa Isabel at the North end of town.

can someone define "just before entering town!" SQ seems to stretch for miles. after camalu it all just goes on and on and on....
