CAN I make it to Scorpion bay on a regular car?
Has anybody made it down to Scorpion Bay through San ignancio on a regular 2 wheel drive car? Is it posssible?
If not is there another way or another bay something like it thats doable on a regular car? Thanks..............

It's been a while since I have been there but I remember it as just alot of washboard dirt road. A car should make it okay.

If you come from San Ignacio on the north road to San Juanico you are gonna trash your 'regular' car but it can make it. You should air down to
15-19lbs and drive slowly-5-20mph and watch out for rocks, though locals do it going about 60-90mph in corollas.
Potential problems: blown tires, bent rims, broken exhaust, motor mounts, brake lines, fluids, body and suspension coming out of alignment.

im in no hurry ill go 5mph if i have to, got alllllll the time in the world for a
few more months I need to take an adventure and fo surfing up and
down Baja...............

Definitely not recommended, you will be much better off going around and increase your chances of a nice trip, unless you are a rally driver with
support and a back up plan or rescue. There are no parts, nor mechanics, and the road will include all kinds of trouble. It isn't worth the trouble
you will encounter.
For adventure you can drive short trips from SJ north and south.

go around and come up from the south. it'll ONLY take a couple more hours instead of going 5-10 mph over that washboard.

i'd advise riding in, not on the car. less dust that way and the sun won't be so bad....

South road without a doubt. Your car would never be the same after the North Road.

Woody's absolutely right. Considering how slow you'd have to go from San Igancio, and the potential damage to the vehicle, heading up from Insurgentes
is the only sane choice if you're in anything but a high clearance four wheel.

Another for the south road, one of my friends was stuck for 4 days on the north road.

It would certainly be an adventure. Take a satellite phone and plenty of water and a camera to video your experience. Post the video on Youtube and
post the URL here for us to see it. Other wise go around and still tell us of your trip.

I drove from BOLA to Mision San Borja, and from BOLA to Gonzaga and then San Felipe in a Dodge minivan, 2WD. The issue in Baja is usually clearance,
not 2WD vs 4WD. The minivan was probably the lowest clearance vehicle in the region, but we made it. Just drive slowly and carefully.

What do you think the Mexicans drive? If you drive fast enough, you can get through anything. Your car may fall apart.....
Seriously, we have 4 wheel drive and don't use it most of the drive. We also drive the south road, which is half paved. The north road, salt flats,
you would want the option of 4 wheel drive. But... it's 100 miles of grueling off road.

Look underneath where your oil pan is located. Carry an additional spare tire. Air your tires down to 18 p.s.i. and be careful to air them up when
you return to the pavement.
