Whale sharks in Gonzaga?

Just saw a post about whale sharks on BOLA, and was wondering if they come up to Gonzaga Bay/Punta Final area as well since I am planning a trip there next weekend. If not, I might just change and head out to BOLA since they are amazing creatures and I would love to see one. Thank you for any input.

It has been posted here that YES, they are seen in Bahia San Luis Gonzaga or perhaps the larger Ensenada de San Francisquito (Alfonsina's to Punta Final...).

whale sharks at BOLA

"We have a place at Gonzaga Bay and we have seen more Whale Sharks this year than ever before. At Thanksgiving last year we had 30-40 of them in the bay where we had never seen more than two or three before. They have stayed around too.

I have often wondered if the Mexican fishermen who work the Sea of Cortez catch Whale Sharks...I have never seen one caught. I know they are protected but that sure doesn't stop the Pescadores from catching anything else...Totuaba for instance.

Maybe Whale Sharks don't taste good...hope so. They are just magnificent. "

About 5 years ago i saw a panga fisherman at Isla Puma out of Gonzaga, standing on a dead 20 ft. whale shark with a knife looking like where do I start ?? Don't know what he did with it or if there is a market for it.
