ensenada?
so i was invited to go fishing for the weekend from ensenada. i really want to go but anywhere north of santo tomas makes me nervous. and i here
every story but try to ignore them and defend baja. But there are just tooo many rumors. so the question is simple, is it dumb for a twenty
something american girl too spend the weekend in ensenada fishing? or am i being totally stupid?

I personally think the fishing is better in San Quintin, but that doesn't make you stupid...

go and have a great time...ensenada is a neat place...my daughter lives there and loves it...lots of fun things to do ... just be careful if you get
really drunk.

i dont thik you will run into problems in ensenada. Its been quite mellow for the last few months. Just use comun sense

Are you going alone to Ensenada? Are you meeting someone there?
Once you get on the toll road you should be safe. The section from the border to the toll road is a little sketchy but you should be okay if you study
goggle earth a little so you know the way. Only drive during daylight.
Do you have a hotel picked out? Pick a nice one and drive directly to it. Check in and park your car in a safe spot like in their lot.
You should be fine in Ensenada during daytime but don't walk around alone at night.
And don't get too drunk. Especially if you are going fishing the next day.
Fishing can be good there this time of year and you should have fun if you are going with the right people.

just don't get really drunk, because you will then forget to be careful...ensenada is perfectly safe, just use common sense as you would anywhere.

Someone invited her fishing. So, it's a safe bet, she's not going to be alone. In any case, the only thing wrong with Ensenada these days is the lack
of tourists and crowds and partyers. It's a lot safer than many places North of the border.

Ensenada is tame compared to other places mentioned. [didn't someone mention Rosarito and Tijuana? Oh well, I did]
The Ensenada police are far less predatory than the other places and they continue to refine the tourist zone with synchronized traffic lights and
cross-walks.
Actually, I don't believe the tourist is alone in their minds when they make these improvements. I believe the city is just evolving in a manner
which will contribute to a better quality of life for everybody.
It's my guess that there's one million plus living in Ensenada now and the city is doing a good job of trying to keep up with it all.

Don't want to step on toes here, but last census info on Ensenada is four years old and lists population at 460,000. I will agree that there appears
to be enormous growth happening, but.....
That said, I am a huge fan of Ensenada.

Au contrair, or whatever....there has been a sign at the entrance to town for well over ten years that says something like Population 545,000. It
was/is there long enough to be a local joke because some proud papa crossed out the figure and added one with the birth of his child.
I don't know, and I wonder if anybody does, if their figueres refer to the population of the city or the municipality but, my bet is there's over a
million in the city limits and adjoining rural communities.
