Any decent canadian who has tried Tecate...switched...the only reason they order Corona is because it was the only mexican beer available in Canada.
Here the only reason they drink bud light or any light beer is because it's way cheaper.
Before turistas started showing up in Asuncion, you could rarely find a Corona but now the new Modelorama had to start carrying it for the visitors.
But in Asuncion...Tecate is definately the beer of choice...ask any beer dealer.

In 1986 when you went fishing off a panga in Loreto and they asked you if you wanted beer on the boat and you said yes without any further detail,
they would provide Coronas in recycled bottles. It was the "junk" beer and the cheapest beer in town. So, many people drank it, cause it was cheap
(I've always thought that many beer drinkers (though not all) were beer drinkers because they fealt that hard liquor was too expensive).
I further theorize that since Corona was all over the place in Baja at that time and that many people that had good times in Baja connected their Baja
good times to the ubiquitous beer, Corona,. When back in the states, one way to "reminisce" about the good times in Baja was to order Corona at their
local pub. Then, all of a sudden, Corona became an "in demand" beer in California. Then the price went up to match and surpass Heineken, and, when
asking for a Corona in a Newport Beach establishment, you were considered to have just ordered a "premium" call brand beer and you are charged
accordingly.
Well, when I see a Corona today, I still see it as the "junk" beer that it was considered to be back in 1986. It seems that hype sells beer.
Back in 1980, the junk cheep booze was Early Times, Ancient Age, Cluny's, and the more expensive call brands were Smirnoff, Cutty Sark, and Paul
Mason Wines. Now it's the reverse. Hype. People buy hype.
I say, close your eyes, drink what you can stand at the lowest price.

Sorry to inform you, that wooden beer keg is decorative only. Tijuana beer is great, even if it's not made in wood, specialy when they let you siphon
it from the containers were it's made, The best!

In a way, I am handcuffed to Pacifico's.
I cannot return my empty bottles for cash, I lost the little piece of paper.
So, I have 2 empty cases of Pacifico beer in my garage.

Went through a tour of where they make Jack Daniels in TN. They made it "stainless steel" too, but it's "put up" (they have multiple barns that they
stack the barrels on racks four high on both side of the barn by forklift) in oak barrels for flavor and color in the aging process of the "booze"
No samples were given

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that but I did know that I like Tecate in MX but never thought much of the Tecate sold in the U.S.
This year I'm taking tapping equipment down with me and putting a keg in our fridge. Negra Modelo on tap. Stop by for a glass, or two.

I have to take polite exception with David's observation about Tecate. Problem is, that just like in the US over the last couple of decades, small and
regional brewers, who made distinctively flavored beer have been gobbled up by the big guys. that has tended to favor brewing for cost effectiveness
more than taste.
Currently, Grupo Modelo has a 63% market share in Mexico. Their brands include Corona, Victoria, Pacifico and, of course, Modelo. They are 50% owned
buy Anheuser Busch inBev. They brew their beers in many locations, not holding to the original brand that started the brewery.
The other large company is Cuauhtemoc Montezuma, subsidiary of Femsa, which is also Coca Cola of Mexico. Their brands include Tecate, Dos Equis, Sol,
Bohemia, Superior, Carta Blanca, Noche Buena, Indio and Casta. Femsa ownership of OXX0 allows them to sell beer and soft drinks with no middleman.
They also are the licensed distributor for Coors Light in Mexico.
In each case, no matter where brewed, there is the same proprietary recipe for the beer. In the case of Tecate, in particular, the largest Femsa
brewery is in Monterey. The import company for the United States is in New York. That's basically why you no longer see Tecate brewed Tecate in the
states.
Just to put the icing on the cake here, if I go to the market in Los Angeles and buy a sixpack of Sapporo, it will have been brewed by AB inBev at
their Van Nuys facility. So much for Japanese beer!

Forgot to mention, and putting even more international flavor into the mix, the New York based importer for all Femsa beers sold in the US is Heinekin
USA.

Is there anyone on this board to remmeber what i think was the best Beer.
Carta Blanc== It even had a place on the bottom of the bottle that you put a new bootle into and twisted off the Cap!!
My favorite is still Modelo Negro.
But does anybody remmber the big Scare that cost Corona lots of Sales.??
Word went around that the mexican Workers were peeing in the Corona Beer!!
Know one store in San Francisco that lost a lot of money. Everybody stopped drinking Corona in San Fancisco until it was determined it was a Rumor.

Best beer deal I can ever remember..... Thrifty Drug Store, Costa Mesa, Ca... 1957... BREW 102.... 29cents for a sixpack of 16oz tall boys ice
