Current Mulege grocery & restaurant status
We'll be heading down to Coyote Bay this weekend for the week. We usually buy groceries in town and eat lunch and dinner at the local restaurants.
In planning for the trip, I'm wondering how much if any of our own food we should bring down there. If any stores are open, I'd rather support them
by buying there, but obviously wouldn't want to if there still isn't enough supplies for the residents of Mulege. And if the restaurants are still
closed, we'll be prepared to bring all our own food.

There are many restaurants and grocery stores open in Mulege and they will appreciate your patronage.
We recently ate at Francisco's Equipales second floor restaurant and also at El Candil across from the square.
In the bay, try Ana's at Santispac and Bertha's at Burros Beach..both are great. Bony's may be open by now, too..at Rcho Coyote.
I don't know about anything further south..like Buenaventura. It is possible they are open also.

La Palapa, south of town, is open and still serving their excellent food.
Full menu, more than adequate servings at a price that will not send you into shock.
Saul has been around here for a long time and has developed the reputation that many other restaurants would like to have.

penguino and yleths tiendas are open for groceries but our favorite, sauls was not open this past week and it looks pretty bleak...saul looked really,
really tired when we saw him....some really super eats at el candil; we ate dinner there every night when we were there and the herb roasted chicken
was to die for...tell scottie mike and roz said so..we had it 4 nights in a row so that's testament...sauls palapa and equipales for breakfast are
good bets; you can't lose at those two...mele at dony's was mucking out and is open i'm sure, by now...dany's asadero was boarded up the entire time
we were there and we saw no actividad..i miss his carnitas, mucho...en tiempo...things are coming back together pretty quickly now.

bajaboolie, Niether place, Danny's Asadero (Antonio's) or Dony's (Mely's) was open the last time I drove by..which was about 12 days ago. They may
well be open by now. Maybe some other Mulege resident will chime in. As los frailes mentioned above, Saul's La Palapa is always a good choice. I've
known him since he was a bartender at the old Hotel Punta Chivato. Which makes him an old man..groan.
p.s. there is a place in Coyote Bay where the Pacifico's are served in a tall, cold, iced glass with a lime squeeze and shot of clamato. You should
look for this place. You must first wait til around dusk, then walk along the seawall, listening for the click of billiard balls and tossed poker
chips...

That's where i 1st met Saul and Miguel too - at Chivato working the bar and dining room. Flyin' Sams stayed there monthly for years until the Italian
took over.

saul's is open
alyth's (the orange store behind the fire dept) is open
lots of meat and chicken and cheese and FOOD
WELL stocked every day
COLD cooler for the milk
payola on the ice house road has the best fruit and veggies
mely's is closed EVERY sept...
mely will open oct 1st as usual
sat bbq chicken is a "best bet"

Now how about those mosquitoes? (especially in Coyote Bay) Should I bring one can of repellent or 5?
