Nice place to stay in Todos Santos?
Hi,
I need some recommendations for a nice hotel or B&B in Todos Santos area. I am helping out my in-laws but they usually stay in a nicer place
while we stay budget places so I have no idea. After searching the Internet a bit, I found that TS has many very upscale inn but they are so
expensive.
Anybody know some good (clean, not very rustic) but moderately priced accommodations in Todos Santos area? Their budget is under $100 per night for
two people. When I heard their price ($100) I thought there will be a plenty of good options, but I guess it is not so in Todos Santos!

Unfortunately, the innkeepers of Todos Santos have gotten quite full of themselves. In my opinion, the best basic and yet clean accomodations for
someone on a budget is Hotel Guluarte located in the center of town. they also have a market and lavanderia on the property. 612-145-0006.

That goes for the whole town. They have illusions being another Sedona or Santa Fe.

Seems like there's been quite a few inquirys as to lodging in Baja lately. Maybe things are coming back together. Very cool.

It would be nice. However, it's also getting to be 'the season', snowbirds, Etc. Only hardcore folks like myself spend time in BCS in the summer.

What time of year and for how long? I can give you some suggestions but prices vary greatly here according to the time of year. And what are they
looking for, just a room with no cooking facilities, near the beach or in town or????

Hello,
Thanks for your inputs. It is frustrating that things are that expensive. In any other parts of Baja, $100 for a night is more than enough to have a
nice place to stay and left over for dinner for 2.
As for the schedule, my in-laws are going there late January. It will only be 1 or 2 nights. They will have a car, so the location (downtown, or
beach) doesn't really matter. They just want to get away from Los Cabos for a short time, but they are Baja (or Mexico) beginners, so I don't want to
recommend sort of places that we normally stay.

We stayed here last winter. It is close to downtown, and artfully eccentric. Clean, and the breakfast is excellent.

Hotelito is fabulous - the owner is charming. I am pretty sure she serves breakfast and there is a lovely little bar with tapas two or three nights
a week. If they are only staying one or two nights they will be looking at a hotel as most owners with rental properties have a three-night minimum -
but you can try vrbo.com - lots listed there. You could also post a request on our newsletter: www.bajawesternonion.com
I don't think they would like Guluarte's from your description.

If they give up on their budget
I can recommend the Todos Santos Inn.
It is a very nice converted mansion, the original owner was a sugar baron years ago.
They have a wine bar onsite and a very nice pool. It is right in town.

I can throw in a few of my favorites but not exactly sure of pricing:
Los Colibris.....insane views in the La Poza area (you better have good brakes on your car if staying here). Did I mention the insane views?? Will
make you weep.
Also in la Poza a new B&B called Casa Blanca with nice views and even VW brakes will do!
As mentioned below Todos Santos Inn is stunning and in the absolute heart of town. Probably way over $100 though.
Flora del Mar B & B on the sand dunes. I play tennis there sometimes. Nice! 20 seconds to the beach.
Las Casitas mentioned below is pretty cool but definetely RUSTIC.
Las Palmas Casitas in town. Nice gardens, central.
San Pedrito Surf Hotel. Right on the beach but its not in Todos Santos sorry. 15 minutes south. Cheap though and a nice little ritchie out front.
Really nice little ritchie.
There is also a bunch of conventional looking hotels right in town that I hevent been inside of but they look reasonable: Hotel Maria Bonita, Hotel
Santa Rosa, Guluarte.

It's totally appropriate Aq-- a good wave could be make or break for some folks in a hotel. I was just clueless and curious, and I'm sure many Nomads got it.

Getting out of Los cabos? Why not try BuenaVista or Los Barriles?
What do you think they will be doing for the 1 or 2 days? We don't have the artsy stuff, but we do have a great community, and lots of people that
have made it their choice to be here, are willing to help those that are visiting, and you see a smile around every corner.

Mika - here's my 2cents worth....
Guluarte - basic but clean and a good budget hotel - I think we paid around $350 pesos. Don't let the lavanderia discourage you. You pay for the
room at the lavanderia (kind of an original system). Good location and easy to walk to just about anywhere in town from there.
Maria Bonita - (used to be something like the "Nuestra Senora de Pilar") - probably a step above the Guluarte. $500 pesos mas o menos. Redecorated
and upgraded a couple of years ago, thus the name change. Also a good clean place. One drawback is that it is located on the truck route and can be
noisy with traffic noise. Ask for a room in the back off the street.
Las Casitas B & B - very cute and charming and a good location also. Delicious breakfast. My memory is hazy on the price ($750 pesos or so?),
but you can check their website for exact prices. I think there are different prices for different rooms - I think a couple of them share a bathroom
outside of the individual casita.
I agree with you on the hotel scene in Todos - until a few years ago, it seemed that you could choose between a grungy dive hotel or a super expensive
luxurious one with nothing in between. Now places like the Maria Bonita have started to fill the gap. There are other moderately priced places in
Todos, but as someone else mentioned, many of them have minimum stays of 2 or 3 nights - at Christmas time, some of them require an even longer stay.
Good luck - hope you find something to your liking.

Hey Mika,
i felt a little guilty giving you my opinion but not any numbers or anything.
So i went to Hotel Guluarte and they gave me the full tour. Its basic but spotless clean and they have a pool!! Nice, there were 4 people swimming and
they all really liked the hotel. I wont mention the tiny bikinis that emboldenned me to ask what they thought of the place.
Its 350 pesos per night (barato!!!!) and cafelix with wifi is one block away.
If you can get room #17 that would be the best one. On the corner with 2 large windows out to the street below. Second choice would be #18 followed by
#19 then #20.

Those had to be the smallest bikinis ever to come out of Canada.
