What's happening @ Los Barriles (hurricane Rick)?

Are they hauling out boats at Los Barrilles? The "East Cape Classic" fishing tournament is supposed to run Thurs - Sat, with folks arriving at Hotel Palmas de Cortez on Weds - just wondering if anybody down there knows what's happening there in terms of Hurricane Rick preparation...

With the forecast track continuing to shift the predicted path more Easterly, it looks like it may miss making actual landfall, but skirt the southern tip... http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_ep5+shtml/023713.sh...

The Classic has been canceled until April, is what I heard this afternoon. Those coming for it should call the agency or hotel to comfirm this though.

Fishing may not be a pleasant experience even if it skirts the tip of Cabo.

The Bisbee on the other hand will go on!! Even if they only fish Friday, is what the Bisbees say. They have teams already here from as far away as Japan.

Lynn Rose did cancel her tournament until April 2010. The boats from the hotels have been pulled. Palmas is now pulling their final boats. The seas are calm, slight winds, no rain as of now. Our friend that has been fishing the last two days, was getting 90 degree water. Hurricane Rick will love that..we are all just getting ready, the best we can. It looks like we're in for winds and rain.

Thanks Bill - Just got word about the tourney being postponed until April.

Good luck if you are down there now, batten down the hatches and gas up your generator - hopefully Rick continues to fizzle.

Thanks again -

Hi
Right now we just had a very large down pour, not sure about Los Barriles, we are South of there, closer to Rancho Leonero. We look right across the bay to Los Barriles.. Last storm, we got more rain than they did in town. Very dark clouds coming our way.Very little winds so far, the seas are calm..Went into town about 2 hours ago. There are CFE trucks parked along the road from Spa Buena Vista going into Los Barriles.Maybe they know something we don't. Will keep you posted as long as we have power..

Looks like Alaska flight 250 got into SJD today no worries, landed at 1:30 or so.

That Baja Joe's web cam doesn't make it look too bad down there.

This former chubasco should be ashore at mainland Mex at about 11 AM tomorrow according to the Natl Weather Service.

FISH ON!!

And of course, good luck to all who are down there now, hopefully you don't get too roughed up. Thankfully Rick cooled off.
