Hotel motel between Ensenada and Tecate
Are there any places to stay between Ensenada and Tecate? Headed North in a couple weeks and want to cross early AM.

Bed'N Breakfasts are all that I know of. Muy pricey. Tecate has some nice motels but, those are pricey as well. I don't know why.
You could stay in Ensenada and head out at sun-up but, that would put you right into the work traffic crossing the border so, leave Ens around 8AM
and hit the line around 9:30 for a quick crossing.
Then again, leave Ensenada at 6 to get through before the road construction crews sober up and hit Tecate around 7:30. Stop at McDonalds and enjoy a
gourmet breakfast, then hit the border.

Something just occured to me. With 40 million registered Nomads, doesn't one live in or near Tecate?

Perhaps because it's not near the water, not a vacation destination, and not close to most of the cross border jobs?

I don't know. I considered living there a while back. The place has a lot going for it.

Thanks Dennis. I'll look for something in Ensenada. No real timeline just trying to make things easier than San Ysidro.

I went through Tecate some thirty years ago, and ever since I had it in the back of my mind as a place to retire (it’s small and right next to the
border), but I haven’t been able to gather much relevant information about it, except that the extremes of temperature may not sit well with me. It
seems to be quite warm in the summer, and I saw pictures showing snow in the streets last winter.

Gets a bit warm in summer and chilly in winter. Snow is occasional and nothing more than a dusting.
I tried to link with Barnes'n Noble a couple of books by Daniel Ravelas [?] ...
"Enchiladas, Rice and Beans" being one of the two or three. I've only read bits and pieces but, they paint a picture of the town. Fun reads.
