Whatever happened to good cheap beer?

Two and three years ago, you could go to Soriana and get Moosehead for under $3 per six-pack (cans).
It was produced in Canada specifically for Soriana.

Last year you could get Pils (Denmark) at Mega for about the same price.

This past year I have found no deals. But they do have some nasty fizzwater available...Bud Lite.

Pacifico makes a fine laxative; Tecate has that wonderful nose of...formaldehyde?

I'll be packing 60 lbs of malted barley, a big bag of hops and some yeast with me this year. That'll make about 30 gallons of high-potency nut-brown ale.

But what will I buy the second month?

Good Point I pick up cheap beer on sale at Walmart when I can otherwise I'm trading in my returnables (Bottles) for 160 to 180 pesos per case no big discount there but it keeps me more regular than ulcult!

There's still cheap beer around. WalMart was selling Gallo fron Guatamala for around ten bucks a case, then they had/have Klosters for around the same price. I think that's Hecho en Mexico. They now have Klosters at Com Mex.
I can't be more specific with details because I don't buy it but, it's still out there.

I thought Moosehead was a classy product.???????

"Pacifico makes a fine laxative"

I think it is more of what you ate with the Pacifico! Try Bohemia if you want more European flavor in your beer... I agree with you about imported Tecate (made in the mainland)... not the same as the Tecate made in Tecate and sold in Baja.

I tried Gallo. It seems my microbrew taste buds can't wrap themselves around it.
But it's nice that it has the factory on the label.

Who knew a rooster could pee so much?

When I used to drink and drive, I liked Moosehead because you could drink it faster and easier because of the wide mouth. After one DUI, I don't drink Moosehead any more.

I like the XX Amber when I am in Mexico. It has a bit of that Microbrew flavor without the after taste of some Mexican beers. I agree with the Bud light Sucks comment....it even smells bad, but don't tell my husband I said that, it's all he drinks.

Whenever I hear that rainy, chill wind blow. I think it may be time to head for Mexico. Tengo que obedecer mi corazon!

Good cheap beer is an oxymarooon? My homebrew is about 50 cents per liter at 10% alcohol, and delicious.

Moosehead, that fine hoppy beer from up north, is very drinkable.

Do Mexicans know what hops are?

It only takes a week to make your first batch of beer. We can bottle in regular one or two-liter pop containers.
So, Bajanuts, bring me down ten pounds of malted barley (about $12 most brewshops), a pound or two of chocolate malt, and maybe some black patent malt (less than a pound).
That'll make a KILLER brown ale, 6 gallons of 10-12%. I'll have all the hops, but we might need some more dry ale yeast.

I am usually near Santiago, BCS, at the hot springs. Expect to turn the handle of the grinding mill...

No kidding? I'm gonna have to get one of those calendars. I still have around five cases of NB from last year. I better hurry up and make some room for the new batch.

I don't care how much the beer costs, I just need more time in Mexico to drink it!Once in a while, Ralph's will have 30 pk Tecate cans for 15.99, not bad for stocking the cooler on the boat.
