Desert Inn in Catavina

I'm browsing the Internet in search of the adress of the Desert Inn in Catavina! Is it possible to get the adress of this location? Can somebody give
me the phone number or e-mail adress?

The Desert Inn is located in the middle of nowhere on Highway 1. I noticed on another post you were asking about tent camping in the Bay of Los
Angeles (BOLA).
BOLA is just about an hour from the Desert Inn.......you should just push on to BOLA and forget the Desert Inn

Catavina to BLA is 2 hours for most mortals.
Bguy is right though, unless you are planning to explore the desert and rock gardens around Catavina, Desert Inn is just a fair place to spend the
night.
BLA is a beautiful place on the water.

Desert Inn in vegas would be a far better choice.....is it even open? - the one in vegas i mean.

To anwser your question. They have no number or address. they are in the middle of no where and giving it a fair rating is generous. I stayed there
last year on a trip down because we arived late and were leaving early. the room was clean but the shower had more mold than a 2 week old piece of
bread. it was only twenty five dollars versus 600 dollars accross the street. If you only need a bed for the night it might not be to bad. I might
stay there again if I was just looking for a place to lay my head. I would bring my own pillow.

Catavina is a lovely place to pitch a tent too among the boulders.
I thought the Desert Inn was an old Pinta and quite pricey...perhaps the hotel Mick is refering to is that pink one that is cheap and fine to camp in
for a night if you have to.

The Desert Inn in Las Vegas is long gone. I believe the new Wynn Resort is built on the old site! Talk about an upgrade.

Not much in Cataviña... the Desert Inn (formerly La Pinta, formerly El Presidente) is on the lower side (southwest) of the highway... just south of
the trailer park... the 'rest of the town' is on the other side.

I think Shari was right about Mick's post. First, no one stays at a Desert Inn for $25. That sounds much more like what they would charge at the
primitive place across the street. While Desert Inn isn't the best value for price in Baja, a couple of years ago, when they changed the name from La
Pinta, they did do a remodel. They're running around $75 as last I remember. And the restaurant is decent and it has a pool. Not knowing where Daniel
will be starting his travels that day, I would say that if sundown is near, it wouldn't be a bad place to stop. And he would still have almost all the
next day at BOLA.
And for folks traveling during Whale season, tour operators will fill this place up in advance. It has only 28 rooms. So during season, reservations
are highly recommended.
Oops! Just read Daniel's other post. They're traveling South to North so I don't see why Catavina would even be in the mix if he's coming from BOLA.

Our local San Quintin "Los Pinos" brothers have recently bought the six?? remaining Desert Inns. I know they are doing remodeling etc on the one here
in San Quintin Baja. It is now called "Hotel Mision Santa Maria"

I totally agree. Tho we have never actually stayed there at the Desert Inn (we camp in our camper outside, normally) we ALWAYS plan to have dinner
there, both coming and going--------a delightful experience, and always fun.
Many of our friends have stayed there, and enjoyed it.

we stopped there a month or so ago for lunch and i checked room rates; 950 pesos...but the food was good....the pool was dirty...it's a push.
dyslexia is never having to say you\'re yrros.

The San Quintin property and the one in Loreto are distinctly different from the others in that they are located on the water and are better suited as
destinations rather than overnights.

Daniel is from Switzeland (CH), so I think he is doing great to ask questions and get ideas for his first Baja experience!
I would like to know the type of vehicle he is going to rent in Los Cabos or la Paz (where-ever he is starting from). Because the road north to
Puertecitos from Hwy. 1 is dirt and has about 30 really rough miles north of Gonzaga Bay... a Jeep Liberty or Wrangler may be the way to go?
Oh, and forgot to point out to Daniel again that he will not be going through Cataviña if he is headed to Puertecitos from Bahia de los Angeles...
Daniel will get to meet Coco, however!

I stopped at that "campground" years ago. We just threw a couple of cots out, barbequed our dinner and went to bed. Woke up around 3:00AM and found
our selves right in the middle of a herd of cattle. Just pulled the sleeping bag up over my head and went back to sleep.
