Juncalito changes?
Thanks to those who updated me on the San Ysidro crossing.
Now, any changes to camping at Juncalito Beach? That is our last stop before La Paz so the dog and I can run on the beach, hike around and stretch
our legs. Once in La Paz we are commited to getting the boat ready and preparing for Subasta (big fund raiser for breakfast program, Christmas gifts,
etc. for poorer colonias) It is Dec. 6 at Marina de la Paz if you are in the area.

I went recently and found a guard at the entrance I asked if we could take a quick swim and he said yes of course but we had no dog. The water was
perfect. I saw two other cars camped or stopped for a break.

Paula and I were there a couple of weeks ago, with our dog. No changes that we could see. The road has been repaired since the hurricane. There is a
municipal camping fee but I don't know if they are collecting it now. There was no gate or watchman; perhaps gnukid is thinking of Ensenada Blanca,
where the Villas people have gated the beach access roads, and allow public access through the north gate and have told us "no dogs allowed."

We can, and will, stay in one of the dog friendly places in Loreto if Juncalito is not available. Juncalito has always been full of folks camping for
the season (along with Rattlesnake). The number of campers has kind of insured a bit of safety compared to an isolated beach since the wife is along.
If there are only one or two campers now due to the charge (which I don't object to paying), then We'll go elsewhere. I really like this one night
stop on the beach (been doing it over 15 years) compared to a hotel, but Baja is changing. So looking at Mulege, San Lucas Cove, etc.
Don, how many campers did you see on the beach?

Ligui beach is always a nice stop before heading up the hill and over to La Paz . Good store close by and most of the time other campers on the beach.

Jack,
Don and I just returned from walking the dog at Juncalito. There were about 6 campsites set up at the north end of the beach. We asked some campers
about the fee. One guy said about $5 per day, and the other said 950 pesos for 2 weeks.
A walk down the road that goes on from the south end of the beach has some pretty views. If you go to the end, you'll see into Puerto Escondido.

"Free Beach" is alive and well and has campers on it. the number varies but is growing daily. there is a municipal charge, collected sporatically
but collected, I don't know what the nightly is but monthly is about two hundred US. 'improvements' are some round palapas put up last year and a
place to put garbage.
I live in El Juncalito.
reality\'s never been of much use out here...

Thank you Don and others. Wow, that photograph tells all and can't be more current! This board is great for this type of thing. We had decided to
stay in Constitucion at Manfred's, skipping Loreto's restaurants, but now it looks like Juncalito hasn't changed at all. Headed down for the season
the 28th and we'll report anything significant.
