Ensenada next week.
Here is the plan, on Monday I'm going to take the ABC bus from Tijuana to Ensenada, stay at Hotel Villa Fontana and return on Wednesday. I just
talked to Efrain at the hotel, no problem with room availabilty.
No tourist card needed, right? Anything else I should know?
Will be visiting the Cultural Center and a few of the restaurants praised here. Other than that no real plans. I'll be in TJ twice this week but
only after hours so I can't really seek any info there.

Don't forget your passport.
Get off the bus at the first of the two stops in Ensenada. That will be sixth street. It'll put you closer to your destination.
No tourist card needed.

If you're gonna be down there, you really should stay for the Baja 1000...

No problem with room availability? Except for race time, there's rooms all over the place. Sadly. In fact, I've determined that given the high vacancy
rate, you're more likely to get a better deal if you just show up and haggle. Anyone booking through websites right now is overpaying.

The Baja 1000 (42nd)
Contingency along with Tech inspection and Registration are on THURSDAY (19th)... and is quite a show! The town is more crazy on Race Day (Friday),
and some will go find a location along the race course to watch!

I figured as much but since it's the Race andThanksgiving week I thought I should check. I didn't make a reservation, I plan to walk in and
pay cash for the very reason you mention. They quoted me $56 over the phone but I suspect I can do better than that

As someone who truly misses the parties and the crowds, all I can ask is that the race promoters not only go the extra mile to get media coverage, but
that they schedule more races. Geez. Our Mexican brothers and sisters are dying on the vine for lack of tourism. They have been such gracious hosts
over the years, they deserve the best we can do.

Hey I am all for promotional events that bring money into the economy. Do it as often as possible! What I said was "Nothing against it,
just not my kind of folk ". I'll still bring my money, just prefer not to be in the company of the NASCAR set Now sponsor an offshore fishing tournament and you'll get my attention

I miss sitting out there by a roaring fire watching the trucks charging across the desert night.

I stayed in Ensenada Wed night and the action was all along the waterfront. The big hotels were taken but I had no problem finding a smaller motel
with secure parking a few blocks off of the malecon. Had a nice room for 220 pesos and it was an easy walk to some of the better restaurants in town.
I don't know what it is, but sometimes I forget to check about what is going on in Ensenada before I go. Last time I tried to stay there it was
during the middle of Carnival which was a disaster even trying to get through town with the camper and a trailer behind. So this time was a little
better, but the race crowd was sure out in force.
