Mood: After 34 years. Still in love w/ my wife

Having dealt with the Loreto imm. office over the past l8 years of spending winters there (until two years ago when we sold our home) I've seen it all, from "lost the papers"??? to come back in a week to "I'm sorry, but your letter from your doctor saying reason you were late was you were in the hospital in the states" is not acceptable???? The fine will be $400.00 YIKES By time my cousins wife got through with the lady officer, and the immigration lady threatened send her on the bus to the u.s., she got fired!!!!!! thanks to some influential friend of theirs (Mexican) in Loreto. that was maybe ten or twelve years ago. My brother & I years ago were asked for some peso's to paint their office when they were in the old airport tower building??? Next year, it wasn't painted yet. But that evening when we were having dinner at El Nido (now Domingo's) he was there eating dinner (steak) with a friend???????? Some years later, he was gone from the local scene. What comes around, goes around??????

The INM don't volunteer info because that isn't in their collective personality which is likely a good thing.

Use the star wars jedi mind trick which works everytime, direct the conversation in a comanding manner which is pleasant, normal and then say goodbye. Talk about food, semillas, tierra and gardening and fish until they get hungry and they'll stamp the papers. Talk about pollos and pavos, papas, zanhoria, cebolla y friloes typo cinco estrellas de Sonora con sabor de jamon.

I have also never had any problems renewing my FM-3 in La Paz. I use the same system as OnoMas (above) and keep a copy of the renewal letter in the computer and just change the date every year.

I also go to the office before turning in anything and first get a list of requirements ("requisitos") just to make sure nothing has changed from the previous year. The agent will check off the items that you need to bring in depending on the type of document you are applying for. They will also give you the official "solicitud" form that you need to fill out.

The first year or two I had an agent do this for me and then decided that I could easily do it myself. If you live far from La Paz I understand the convenience of having an agent do the paperwork for you, but if you live in or near La Paz, it's easy enough to do yourself.

OK...Something else. Has anybody while renewing a visa been required to give a bank copy of your statement rather than an online version? They're doing that here.
Makes it a PITA when you have opted for paperless statements.
