Campo Serena Bahia Asuncion question
Hi folks...is there hot water in the campground shower yet?

they had hot water when I was there I watched them put in a small electric water heater on a flimsey stand outside the bathroom.

Hot water.
Vagabundo and all...a few of us were just over to Juan and Shari's campground in Asuncion. Lots of hot water, great view, and we had a super fun
time.
Now we're back in Coyote Bay...not exactly in hot water, but still having a super time.
I recommend you go see what Asuncion (and Shari/Juan) have to offer. You won't be disappointed. For me, it's like Baja was 40 years ago.

Right you are Pomp. I spent a couple of weeks there last year by myself. It will be great fun sharing it with my best friend.
We will be away from here for all of January. I had hoped to be there for New Years like last year, but we may be a day or two later. Being
non-drinkers it isn't too hard to pass up that party.

From the main highway it is about 70+/- miles. It takes us about 1 1/2 these days depending on what we have in the back of the truck. It really
depends on what you are driving.
The first 40+ miles from Vizcaino to the turn off to BA is paved, but has some major areas of pot holes and broken road---mainly the salt flat areas.
They are always working on it, so it depends on what they have done.
Also, there used to be just one big dune on the road and now there are several small ones that spill onto the roads. They look soft, but they are
hard as a concrete tope---learned the hard way.
The road from the Tortugas road to Bahia Asuncion is 25+ miles. When we left a few weeks ago, all but the last 8 miles have been paved and they have
surveyed the last 80 miles.
The first part that was paved has some nasty spots from a big rain storm a few years ago, the rest of the pavement is great, the the dirt part changes
from very smooth to washboard nasty---depends on when the grader has been there.
There are a couple of soft spots---no big deal.
And when you can see the town, you will have a choice of roads to take into town---the main road that follows the power lines or the roller coaster
road to the right---both get there.
Great place, but then again, we are quite biased.

But as they say, Bad roads = good people.
You also get this in Asuncion
and so much more. You will love it with or without hot showers.

I remember not so long ago when large stretches of Highway 1 looked like that!
Say .. Any windsurfing to be had there? - I know it's windy - wondering about wind direction - launch from campsites..

It does remind one of Highway 1 in the past. 
I know zero about windsurfing, but we do have some wind almost everyday, especially in the afternoons. In the spring, we have LOTS of wind. The
prevailing wind, except in summer, comes from the north.
I have never seen anyone wind-surfing there----what is required to make it a good wind-surfing area?
