I-5 South toward Los Angeles 358.6 miles
Take ramp right for I-210 / Foothill Fwy East toward Pasadena 44.4 miles
At exit 45, take ramp right for SR-57 / Orange Fwy South toward Santa Ana 4.1 miles
Take ramp right for I-10 / San Bernardino Fwy East toward San Bernardino 103.0 miles
Keep right toward SR-86 Spur South 0.4 miles

Good directions David but I think I'd just stay on the 210 until it ends at the I-10 in Redlands.

If you can't avoid the high traffic times for L.A., then going east at Bakersfield to the 395 was how we came south when I lived in Fresno...

Alan's suggestion is correct. We recently traveled from SF to Sack-of-tomatoes using this route and did it in about 11 hours, not counting border
wait. A friend swears he does in 10 hours to his condo; Sacramento to San Felipe.
Does essence predate existence?

Our best time from Placerville to San Felipe was 10.5 hours. I-5 to Gorman, 138 through Lancaster and Palmdale, 215 to 10, 86 toBrawley, 111 to
Calexico.

I-10 around Redlands during rush hour is murder. Saturdays on I-10 around the
outlets near Cabazone and Palm Springs ain't much fun either.

You have about the quickest way. No matter what time you get in the L.A. Basin, traffic is murder. Have been driving from Sac to the border for 20
years and the last 15, never get near L.A. The added distance is easily made up in time.
However, I usually take 99 straight to Bakersfield. Just as fast and more help available if you have trouble.

I just take I-5 the whole way. I leave Sac. about 2:00 PM and pass through L.A. about 10:00 PM. I've never had traffic other than maybe some traffic
in Galt or Stockton.

We leave Colusa in the afternoon so when we hit LA it is about 1:00 in the morning.The traffic does not seem as bad at that time.Then I head for the
rest area just before San Diego and pull off for some sleep. Then it makes a nice drive to San Felipe.

Traffic can be horrendous between Irvine and San Diego. While is was a special occasion, it took us 2 1/2 hours to get from Anaheim to Encinitas on
Thanksgiving day. But I have encountered huge backups through Mission Viejo to San Clemente, and again around Oceanside on just about any weekend.

I've always taken I-5 straight to the border in San Ysidro. This has always been in late December. The only traffic I ever hit is on the return trip
back north, and it can get a bit extreme. When heading south, if I hit Santa Clarita (Magic Mountain) about 9:30 P.M., I average 55 mph all the way to
the border.

There's no reason to go through Smell-A. The older maps don't have the new 210E extension but it's awesome and a lot less trafficed than taking the
10E from the 57S. Take the 15S to the 215S to the new 210E to 10E to 86S to 111S at Brawley or if you want to avoid Brawley, make a right turn in
Westmoreland on the SR30S to the 8E to 111S.
The only place you'll have the possibility of hitting traffic is the San Bernadino through Redlands area so just plan to not hit that at a rush hour.

Please give the credit to Bing.com, and listen to those who actually drive the route to confirm. It was many years ago I lived in Fresno (for 2.5
lousy years)... That is why I used the bing.com map service to see what popped up.
