Buying furniture
Living room furniture...any recommendations where to buy furniture? There's nothing in San Felipe (well...one that is priced 4x over). We dont mind
going over to the Pac coast side (not TJ).
Looking for decent quality at decent prices....prefer Mex style.

Hello Mcfez, I have been asking the same question as we are currently building a house in San Felipe. I guess it all depends on what you are looking
for...I hear there are furniture shops (Ashley furniture etc.) in Mexicali, but if you want Mexican Carved Furniture I have been told that Rosarito is
the place to go. I hope you find what you want...let me know as I will be searching soon enough.
Whenever I hear that rainy, chill wind blow. I think it may be time to head for Mexico. Tengo que obedecer mi corazon!

Muebles Bonanza in Ensenada has nice furniture, even some of the Ashley lines at much less than Ashley prices here, they also will occassionally do
some bargaining on prices.

We finally moved into our unit in Rosarito. We looked over three years for furniture that we liked, north and south of the border! We ended up
buying everything here in San Diego and having it moved down there.....seemed like what we found that we liked southbound was much more money and much
less quality....a personal preference, I'm sure, but we are happy with our decision.....good luck!

We also have a house in San Felipe...got most all the stuff in San Diego and brought it over ourselves. Several peices of furniture I found at a
SEars (how would you ever guess I would find pieces I like there) in Northern Cal and picked it up in El Centro...nice. Did not have to drive it all
the way from Redding! Bought several pieces on Craigs List also. I took my time finding things...it was worth it for us. Gee, I am not sure where you
would find things in San Felipe. There is one furniture storre on the way to the Airport and they told us they could order from Ashley...we thought
it was too pricey. Good luck with that. Nancy

We will be arriving in San Felipe on Dec. 20th through Jan. 1st. so we will stop by to say Hello. We are just looking to buy our furniture
somewhere in Baja since it would be difficult for us to bring it down since we live up in Washington. I hope that you find what you want. I know
it's tough in a small town, but we like San Felipe because it is still small enough. Have a safe trip down. I'm Anna and my husband is Dan.

How did you bring the furniture down? Truck load, a trailer? Did you have to use an importer? What was the amount of duty that you had to pay?
It seems like it would be a hassle to bring furniture down as we will need a house full. Still tryin to find the best way to do this.

A gold mine of furniture, excellent and semi-new to well used is available in the Segundas in and around Ensenada. Los Globos, a Segunda district has
lots of it. Your savings will be appreciable and it's already on this side of customs. There are other areas in town, quite a few, with good used
furniture.
On the other hand, if new is what you want, there are some good stores mentioned above including Ashley's.

If you are up for a short drive to Ensenada, you might want to check out the work of Nacho Barajas. Speaks good English, and according to reports can
do most anything.
He can be reached at 044 646 101 1462.

We bought ours at Muebles Bonanza in Tijuana. They delivered and set up. We were/are very happy with our decision.

Where did you have them deliver it? Will they come all the way to San Felipe?

They delivered it to our condo in Rosarito. I live in Ontario, CA ( about 1hr 45min from TJ) and they said they would deliver that far if I wanted.
Here is their web site.

We brought ours in an enclosed trailer and were prepared to pay "something". I had most of the receipts or made them myself for the stuff that I did
not buy at a store. We declared everything and were happy with what we ended up paying (it was NOT 15 %..the going tax). MUCH easier than paying
someone else to do it. It was a negoiation more or less. Easy! We drive to our house and got most of it out ourselves...if you do this and need
help getting it into your house it is easy to get it for a reasonable amount. Are you in ED Ranch? Nancy

Yes, we are in El Dorado. We are currently building a house in Los Medanos Norte. We won't be needing furniture for a while yet, but I've been
trying to get some information on the best way to do things.
