ICE
I am having trouble finding time to wire up a second battery system for my engel fridge before my baja trip. How difficult will it be to chase ice all
over Baja?

Chase ice?
Ice is for sale in all Baja towns and beer distributors... Perhaps tell us where you are going?

You might wish to give the Nomads a little more than that.. just so you don't get "someplace" that doesn't carry ice..
Questions welcomed, there are a lot of folks that know their way around in the Baja, so let's see where you plan on going?

Where are you going ? and staying ?
It is available in most larger mercados, some small ones and many aqua stores; even some Pemex have ice.

If you stay on the pavement, would guess you would be OK.. on the dirt OK most of the time, as long as there are people around.. off road breaking
trail would think poor

There are exceptions to readily available "consumable" ice....we were in asuncion a few weeks ago and there wasn't a bag in town...had to go to the
coop and get their ice, shaved...but it's made out of tap water and possibly might not be suited for an adult beverage.

Dual battery system pretty much just incorporates an isolator. The alternator feeds to the isolator. You have your primary battery and then your
secondary (should be deep cycle battery like an Optima) on a fuse panel to run your Engel or any other accessory!
Here's a recent writeup on a 4runner:
