I had my windshield replaced after they pulled me into secondary and tore off the sticker that was on the cracked windshield.
No appointment necessary to get the replacement sticker, no paperwork other than your Sentri card and the car registration. There was a fee involved,
I forget how much.

Where did I read [maybe here] that someone needed a new sticker and peeled off the old one with a razor blade and used it for the exchange.

Maybe so. They took mine in secondary. Maybe it was in the computer records they had it. I didn't have it when I got the replacement.

No appointment necessary. Razor blading the item is not needed but is a nice touch.
By the way, do all the SENTRI PASS owners know that you can be enrolled in the US Trusted Traveller program for FREE? Allows you to scoot past all
the other incoming passengers at airport Customs and Immigration and actually works in some US security lines around domestic terminals like Orlando
airport and others. They have a Trusted Traveller x-ray and metal detector line exlcusive there and in other airports. FREE!

Not so fast
1. I would try to remove it with a razor blade and resuse it.
2. If that doesn't work, I had to go to Calexico (Carr Road) and take my employment records and all of the other goodies that are required. It took
nearly 3 hours due to a computer outage.

I'm waiting to hear the story behind why you need a new windshield! Maybe a malfunction with a "golf ball launcher"?! .
Just do it!

Yesterday i sold my truck and tried to remove the SENTRI sticker from the window with a razor blade - you know how duct tape gets after 2 years in the
sun... it was pretty ugly - I called Otay and was told I didn't need it - just come down with the new truck (20120 F-250!!) and new plates to get a
new sticker.

They don't want you smuggling "crack" into the US?

It's against the law in most states to operate a vehicle with a cracked or "defective" windshield

Hehe....good one fishbuck!
Thanks for the info everyone.
In a battle between lumber and a windshield, the windshield always loses. I have SENTRI and just got my windshield replaced but have yet to get the
new sticker put on. The old sticker peeled off easily from the windshield but left a block of adhesive behind.

The sticker is tied to car. So your #1 would probably get you in trouble. They take a picture of your plate when you go through. So if the info
doesn't match, I am sure you are on your way to secondary.

The adhesive was on the windshield that was severely cracked, so it is long gone. I just did not want to leave it on the old windshield....since I
have no idea what personal information of mine might be on it.
I figured the best way to go was remove the sticker and turn it in at the SENTRI office when I get a new one put on.

I have done both....just went to Sentri office and there was no problem getting a new one, just took off from cracked windshield and turned it in. (
Of course with new windshield on car.) They reinspect the car again before placing decal. I would guess it took an hour or so. I have also gone
on-line and registered a different car and made appointment. In each case there was about a $40 charge. You CANNOT just scrape off old sticker and
put it on a different car. Each sticker goes with a certain car. I knew someone who went in to get their Sentri pass and their car windshield had a
very small crack and they would not give them a sticker until they put a new windshield on car and took car back to get inspected again.
