I hung out in the coffee shop kitty-corner from the mission in La Paz last year. Can't remember the name at
the moment, but it looked like a Starbucks (but wasn't).
They've got free wi-fi.

Telmex connection has been on and off the last couple of days.
I've not been able to receive email on the Prodigy server since the 27th of December. Don't know what the problem is and don't want to call tech
support in D.F. to find out . . . too time consuming.
Baron-
there's lots of places that you can get free wi-fi- in La Paz. You may choose to enter the coffee shop, buy a latte, get their internet access code
and then you can access that system while sitting in your car on the street outside the coffee shop. They generally don't change access codes from
day to day but that could put you at risk for inancial transactions.
Or you can cruise the streets looking for an open connection. We've done it, NOB and SOB! Wouldn't recommend it for anything other than surfing~!~~~
don't use credit cards or access other critical information unless you know and trust the server.
Just checked my Telmex connection. 1.5 mbps from servers in Los Angeles and New York City.
During the recent slowdowns it was 600 kbps from LA and around 400 from NY, which led me to believe, perhaps incorrectly, it was backbone overload
problems.
Coincidental with the Haiti earthquake BTW. More and more folks (Mexicans too) are getting news via the Inet. Could be related.
I'm curious about the download speeds others are getting in different locations and/or with different services.
WOW!! Lencho, you made that statement without using the word SUCKS in there once! I'm impressed! MY summation of Prodigy always contains the word
SUCKS!
k-rico, I'll have to work on that other question & get back to ya!
