Cedros Island?
What's the cheapest way to get to Cedros Island.(For fishing ofcourse!)
Is there a ferry from G. Negro?

Hitching a ride on a Salt Barge
Maybe you could talk the captain of the Tug that takes the barges filled with salt out to the Island.

The reason I am asking is because I saw a post by Cedros Outdoor Adventures.
Their trip is $1300 and includes air trans from San Diego. It sure looks like fun.
But if I can learn to tolerate the bus ride I might be able to do it much cheaper.
How do the workers get out to the island?

Fishbick,
I researched that myself awhile back and the most popular way to get there is by air from GN. Don't remember the cost.

I saw some info that said Cedros Air leaves everyday at 10am and was about $50 each way. Probably the best.
I think it would be a brutal panga ride.

They move the salt out there and load it onto ships. Plus lobster, abalone, etc.
And it looks like good yellowtail fishing too.

Okay, I take the last bus out of TJ, Get dropped off at GN aeropuerto and catch the 10am plane to Cedros. Hang out for the rest of the day and fish
the next, catch the plane out after fishing and catch a bus back to TJ.
Might work. A little crazy, but might just work.

Cedros Island a few years ago..
fishbuck, here's some memories on flying DC-3's to Cedros, although pretty dated nowadays.
Just some fuel for your fire. I had a ball over there... hotel and fun times fishing. You would enjoy it.

I landed at the old dirt runway on my first trip down there.
I had flown to BOLA and was flying over to GN for fuel. They still had AVGAS then.
My plane was primitive and I was flying by AAAmap.
I got a little disorented flying across the desert.
I saw a little town and I was concerned I had flown past GN to the south.
So I landed at the little town. The whole town came out to greet me. Maybe thought I was Flying Sams or something.
A policia car pulls up and I show him the AAAmap.
"Guererro Negro"? I asked pointing to the map.
He laughs and says no and points down the highway south.
"Gracias" I say and jump into my plane.
About 15 minutes later I land at the dirt DC-3 runway in GN.
Never leave home without that AAAmap!

1st time landing in GN was 1985 and we landed at the old dirt strip in town, not the paved military north.
there was a DC-3 there too.
we walked to Maramillos for lunch , blew a brake and went to Loreto, it was Feb.
formerly Ordained in Rev. Ewing\'s Church by Mail - busted on tax fraud.......

Fishbuck, there's an air service that flies out of Ensenada two times a week direct to Cedros Island. I'll get the $$ and days scheduled for you. I
know it's not that much and would save the bus ride to GN and trying to figure out how to get to out the island.
Just do it!

We went to a office here in Ensenada a few months back called "Agency Delfin". They quoted us a price of $1,200. pesos (one way) and said they had
three flights a week direct to Cedros. Looks like this is the same group to me.
Just do it!

Locals around these parts just drive out to Pta.Eugenia fish camp and a panga can take you there for pretty cheap...not too far as long as it's in the
morning before the wind comes up...you can ask around Turtle Bay too.
