San Felipe in February
OK so it's finally time to take advantage of my friends house in San Felipe ! It looks like it will be mid February, a four day weekend over
Valentine's Day  Two couples; two American men and two South American
beauties (de Argentina and Colombia). We may be towing a dune buggy (sigh) so I will post some questions in the off road forum too.
Anything I might want to know? The house is fully equipped so all we really need to take is food according to the owner, but I wonder what else you
guys might suggest? Is there decent fishing off the beach?
I'm guessing we go through El Centro/ Mexicali and straight down to SF, right? That is how I got there before but just wondering if towing something
might change that.
I'm open to any ideas you folks might have for this trip. Things to take, things to do... whatever.

Bring warm clothes... It is very cold at night in Feb. We have been there many times for President's Day Weekend and it was very cold at night!

Febrero ? Quien Sabe ?
Spending a Lot of February in San Felipe since 1967, I've swam in the ocean, sunned on the beach and Froze my Butt off. Sometimes BOTH within days.
I remember one year when I was out swimming and sailing and decided to leave my boat on the beach for the next day. Couldn't even get to it until two
days later and then had to dig the mast out of the beach.
More freezing than sunning. Once, back in the very early 80s, saw freezing temps and snow on the foothills.
Like DK says, plan for cold. Anything else is gravy.

Ah yes - can be cold but sunny! As Mrbillm & DK said, plan for cold (most likley). Never had much luck with fishing in Feb. The two South American
beauties de Argentina and Colombia should keep you all warm though!!

Towing down a dune buggy? Air down the tires to 5 pounds and you can drive anywhere.
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

Towing a VW
Many, many years ago (about 25) towed a VW Thing (Type 181) down to San Felipe with my 21 foot motor home. No problems....just remember to get
insurance for the dune buggy, and if it's on a trailer, insure the trailer also....contact Baja Geoff at BajaBound Insurance

Looking at the so called "Official San Felipe" website, temps should be around low 70s during the day and mid 50s at night. Maybe.

Not a chance pal, get your own ! (The Argentinan is mine  ) They are
easy enough to find, just go take a tango class . They just love American men

Head south to fish! Its paved well beyond Puertecitos and that is about where the better fishing starts. Go as far as the pavement is (or further if
in the buggy) and find some rocks/structure mixed with sand for a good stab at corvina...or take some frozen squid and small hooks for a trigger
dinner. And if you only catch some large spotted bay bass, so be it! They're delicious. Have fun.
