tecate to san quintin

We are crossing the Border into Baja this coming Monday or Tuesday. We are heading to La Paz and Todo Santos with stops at BOLA, Bahia de Concepcion etc along the way. Even though we are driving south on Interstate 5 from Seattle we had planned to enter at Tecate. We are in no hurry and planned to enter at Tecate to avoid the traffic and the ease of obtaining a FMT etc.. It appears that the recent/current storm might have damaged the road from Tecate to Ensenada. We travel in a 31'motorhome. Should we change our plans and enter at Ysidro and if so is there a campground on the US side near the Ysidro crossing? (We plan to walk across the border to obtain the paperwork so we can get an early start into Baja the following morning and not mess with trying to find parking for the motorhome on the Mexico side. )Thanks for the input. Ron

Incase you haven't noticed Highway 1 is closed past Ensenada and probably will be for atleast a week.

Thanks. I didn't realize it. I thought the problem was on the side road from Maneadearo to La Bufadora and Punta Banda. We are already in route from Seattle so we'll just hang out in California until Hwy 1 opens. How much of Hwy 1 is closed? What is the best way for me to find out when the road opens? After this section of Hwy 1 opens, are there any other main sections heading South that have closures? Do you know if the road is ok to Estero Beach Ensenada to the rv park at Estero Beach?? Thanks for the input. Ron

This thread seems to cover it best.

But it looks like it's impassable from Ensenada to El Rosario. And my guess would be parts of the road near Catavina too.
