Playa Perla
We're going to be at Bahia de Concepcion in about a week. We're in a 31' motorhome without a tow. Is Playa Perla easily accessible and is there
sufficient room to turn around without getting stuck? Thanks Ron

Playa La Perla is next to El Requeson.
There is an entry into El Requeson that is a little steeper than the one just south for La Perla.
You can make either one with your rig but the departure is easier up the La Perla road.
You can drive between them and there should be plenty of room to turn around.
La Perla has some palapas and nice views but you have to walk down to Requeson for the nice beach - 150 yards.

When we went by last week, Perla was packed. We kept on going.

Here's my photos at La Perla, last July (we were the only ones there, other than the fishermen that run the place):
I was able to get the sunrise photo because an arriving fisherman drove past the palapas before sunrise with his Norteņo music blaring, and then left
it on when he parked at their shacks, just past the palapas.

Thanks. Seems like this beach is either packed or dead depending on the day. Is there enough room to park up on the road so one can walk down to see
what is available vs driving. If Perla is packed, what is the best 2nd option? Thanks Ron

Packed? I doubt it... maybe during Semana Santa (Easter)?
There is room to back in turn about, I think... a large flat area where there has been trash dumping is right across the old road from the palapas.
No, the distance to Highway One is too far and there is no parking on Hwy. 1.
Come in on the El Requeson signed driveway, as it is downhill... Near the water you will go right for La Perla and left of El Requeson.
Requeson is nicer, but they only had a few palapas and none vacant last July. Lots of turn around room at Requeson.
If you then go to La Perla, you can leave via their driveway, just south off the old Baja main road.

I don't think there is room on the road to park; you will need to pull down into Perla.
There is a loop drive to the caretaker's house so you will have no problem getting back out.
On the way to Perla, you will pass all of the other campgrounds so you can check out the alternatives.
Santispec, Coyote, Burro, etc.
If you come in late, Sanitspec always has room, is the easiest to get into and is the closest to Mulege.
There are spaces at the Serenidad for the Saturday night pig feast.
They also have power and dumps at the spaces but no view or ambiance.

To BajaJudy- I know you didn't stop but any idea why it was packed? We spoke to a couple last night (in Vicente Guerrero) who said La Perla was dead
when they were there. (It was their favorable experience that prompted us to ask BajaNomad about the ease of getting down there in a larger motorhome.
(They were in a small van.) Unfortunately I didn't get the time frame. They went from La Perla to Cabo San Lucas. They arrived in VG yesterday so
I'm guessing they were in La Perla a couple of weeks ago. Were the other nearby beaches busy? Thanks for the info. Ron and Patty

Playa La Perla is not very big. 10 or so rigs can make the difference from empty to packed. It is often full during the winter. I haven't been there
in two years but I remember it as a place that would be tough to get into with a big rig. You can pull into Requeson and walk over to La Perla to
check it out.

I love the place too
I think that it was a caravan because every palapa was taken.
I have seen Requeson with more rigs so the people at Perla must have been together.
No the other beaches were not packed. Los Cocos had a full beach but El Burro had almost no one.
I just bet you will be able to find something as there were a lot less people, in general, on the road.

Sorry Judy, I didn't mean it to sound that way.
During last summer when El Requeson was full (and it is BIG)... there wasn't one guest at La Perla, next door... other than us. Two years before, when
we were lucky to get a palapa at Requeson... we still didn't see anyone at La Perla. That's why I thought it odd that it could be 'full', off season.
After being awakened by the blaring music, we figured everyone else already knew it wasn't a good place to camp and that is why it was always vacant!

Oh, sure... right you are... the 'snowbirds'! We used to see them around here a lot (San Diego)... Not so much this year... Guess the economy sucks in

HUH?
This is a CAMPING beach, dry camping.... palapas only.... Trash dump? If you can bring it in, you can haul it out! However, there are trash cans.
There are also outhouses... BUT, we will take a desert drive when that time comes!
Want running water? Go to Cabo San Lucas! The Sea of Cortez is 5 feet from your palapa and is bathtub warm... Why camp on the sea and not go into the
water?
