Must say, that getting around down here is a lot different that the States.. down here people help me..
I have had more people come to my assistance, men and women, young and old help me up curbs, open doors for me.. help me across the street (using
their arms held straight with their hand held as it should be to indicated "STOP", pick up my cane, pick up my wallet, pick up my Passport, pick
up....
I like that people still, even with all the other things going on, have the ability to provide common courtesy to the folks who can't get around as
well ...
They are most certainly not up to the ADA in the some of the other Counties
But, it seems like we lost some with the ADA to a some extent NOB ...
Just my 2 cents

That's funny.
I wish I had a picture of the front of Pizza Hut in Ensenada. I guess a franchise comes with a set of stock plans for construction of the building so
as to maintain the theme and they include two wheel chair ramps, one on each side of the front entrance.
Well, I guess the franchisee decided he didn't want the additional doors at the top of the ramps, so he eliminated them.
Looks OK except he forgot to instruct the contractor to eliminate the ramps as well and they're still there, leading the chair-bound diner right up to
the brick wall.
Doubt that would fly north of the border.

We created a handicap (wheelchair) access to the beach on the family's beach concession. Did the pretty blue logo, the blue painted curb and we
really enjoyed watching people wheel out to watch the surf and picnic with family. Ok- it wasn't a LOT of disabled people, but I got a warmed heart
watching them enjoy it.
Then, a construction crew started parking on the blue curb every day, they blocked the opening for wheelchair access and painted over the logo. I was
very mad the day a family tried to get their disabled family member around and onto the beach and couldn't do it. Once PROFEPA gets these squatters
off the edge of the beach concession we will restore that disabled access. Everyone deserves to enjoy the beauty of the Pacific with friends and
family.

It has slowly been getting better, especially in tourist areas. even if there is no government requirement, tourist oriented businesses realize that
alot of older clientele need assistance. Anyone who has visited San Jose over the years would note that the recent remodel of the town square area
resulted in the elimination of a couple of blocks of ridiculously uneven sidewalk in front of shops and restaurants. On the other hand, there are some
architectural touches at certain public buildings and businesses that are aesthetically pleasing but would not be allowed in the US. I'm reminded, in
particular of the restaurant just outside of Cabo once known as Da Giorgios. Stunning layout sprawling down the oceanfront hill, but certainly a
minefield for a handicapped person.
