Phoenix to San Felipe???
So I travel to SF about once or twice a month. I have gone several ways, but I have narrowed it down to 2 ways.
1. Through San Luis to the toll road and over to 5 and south to SF.
2. I8 to 98 to the East Calexico Crossing.
Any clue which way is faster??

Is this a guessing game?
What about Algodones south to Mex. 5 via BC 4 and the other valley paved roads?

This is one subject I can actually claim to be an expert on. Number 2 is the absolute fastest way for sure. I did this commute every weekend for two
years. Now its just a question as to whether you are coming out of the east valley or the west. Cause then there is a shortcut.

East Valley
I know, there are a few short cuts.
1. Through Maricopa
2. Through Mobile into Gila Bend
However, even though Mobile is shorter, I am not sure it is faster after having to cut through Gila Bend at 35mph.

Algodones is the worst.
In order to get to Hwy 2 you have to slow way down to a crawl most of the way. If you go past 2 and continue to cut your way south and west towards 5
is even worse. I've done it a few times with the same results, turtle slow.

Thats the shortcut. Either way you have to go through Gila Bend. There isn't a shorter route unless you fly

Good to know! Is it slow because of farm vehicles on the road, or numerous towns with topes and slow speed limits? On paper, it is 'shorter' in miles.

If your coming from Yuma Algodones is about the same timegoing to S/F.--The streets ar a bit tight-- especially if you make a wrong turn.
it also is a nice reintroduction to Baja. Heading north itis bad--long lines

Yes and no. If I stay on 8 I don't have to drive through Gila Bend. Now if I have to eat or get gas, then I usually go through Mobile.

At this time, farm country will be very slow because of the rain wash-outs.
