XM Radio
Very frustrated. Yesterday we were without power for several hours. When the power returned, my satellite radio screen read "loading". After
several hours I called XM Canada and a lovely gentleman said he would "so something"... and the signal would would return. Did not happen so I called
again just now. I was told that they did not know how I had been getting a signal previously as they did not have a satellite in Mexico!!
I explained that I had been receiving XM signal for over 2 years... apparently I was lucky?
My radio does not say... no signal, just "loading". Anybody have any ideas?
Remember, when in Mexico, yes may be no and no may be
maybe!

Refresh your radio through your account online. That should do the trick. There should be a link somewhere on your account page to do it, along with
directions. Hope that helps. We always got XM in Mexico, obviously the CS rep you spoke to didn't know what he was talking about.

Could be what Bob & Susan mentioned. Any electronics really need to have surge protection. An that goes double for Mexico, where voltage issues
occur regularly.

We cancelled our XM today. The reception between the ranch and La Paz has degraded to a point where we prefer our mp3 player. I have tried to solve
the issues online, but the XM computer system appears to be as rickety as the reception (refuse to phone, too expensive and like Marie-Rose says - the
thought of Mexican customers is baffling to them) . . .
The only thing we will really miss is the news as we drive between La Paz and San Diego. From what I can see on CNBC, it's a toss up whether the
satellite radio model will survive.

Hola marie-rose, i was told by best buy that xm, now siriusN doesn't have a license to broadcast into mexico. i have been receiving in los barriles
since 2006 and friends have received prior to that.
the reason i bought mine was because a friend on a long range fishing trip carried an xm radio and put it on the boat's speaker system while they were
on the pacific ocean fishing near cabo and it worked fine.
when i got the " loading " screen on my radio while in my trailer under my palapa, i had to turn my antenna until i received a stronger signal. i have
the antenna mounted on a long fiberglass pole so the antenna is above my palapa and gets a clear shot of the satellite.
also, if you unit is older like mine, 5 years old, you may have to replace the battery as i did. my units battery was about $ 39.00 from an xm
supplier but my wife found it on ebay for $ 9.95 plus shipping.
i hope you find a solution,

Thanks all... I do believe that the malfunction had something to do with the power outage... I thought that the power bar I was using had power
surge .
I am going to see if someone around TS has a satellite unit they no longer use and try it... Just has been an exercise if frustration as I could
listen online but my Mac complicates things as I can't figure out how to install the download for the reader I need to play it!!!!! Gotta love and
hate this technology

Just to let you know, my XM/Sirus radio reception is fine here in Coyote Bay. I am using the standard Delphi home unit, standard antenna, etc.
Listening to it right now. Good luck with yours.
I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.

several weeks ago, for a period of at least a week, I had a 'loading' problem with my XM in El Juncalito (south of Loreto/north of Pto Escondido).
I'd either get a signal that skipped skipped skipped or I'd get the 'loading' message. No power outage here...we're all solar anyway, so I'm talking
12 volt/radio XM receiver. I tried moving the antenna, with no improvement. then, I thought, well, it's 3 years old and has been in the baking sun
all that time, so I borrowed a new antenna from a friend. worked perfectly, problem solved.
BUT I decided to move the antenna to a new spot, just a safer location in the high winds we sometimes have. again, new antenna worked great.
BUT, why I decided to do it I dunno, but I thought I'd check the old one once more before I went to the trouble to get a new one. to my surprise, it
worked perfectly. wouldn't work in the old spot, where the new one would, but ten feet away and around the corner. no problem. ???got me??? did
the angle of the satellite change?? or ???
anyway, moving the antenna is worth a try before you give up or cancel.
reality\'s never been of much use out here...

Thanks everyone... well I do know that everyone still seems to be getting their reception! I have tried a new antenna, still no resolution. Now will
see if I can try someone else's radio on my cradle to see if that works.
If this thing uses batteries... I have no idea where they are or how to get them out

Doh . . . you can have ours!
It is a practically new car receiver (12v cradle) model. U2U me - you can pick it up in La Paz, I am headed there right now and I can leave it with a
friend who has a store on the Malecon.
