Looking for stained glass
Hello everyone. I am looking for some stained glass fish (dorado and yellowtail) to hang in a couple of windows. Does anyone know where they can be
bought? Thanks..

Any of the tourist shops, especially at the border. Algodones, Tijuana, Nogales, are loaded with that kind of thing. I have never looked, but I
would suspect that several of the shops in Mulege would have them too.

If you're near Mexicali or TJ or Rosarito (a larger town where the mfgrs. are probably located)), try to track down the makers of these art objects,
and commission your own design. If money is no object, same same with any stained glass shop in the US.

Google "stained glass patterns".....lots available. Find what you like and have it made south of the border.

there is a great shop at the TJ crossing, but USA side - what's that town? i fricking forgot - san ysidro?
anyway he sells on Ebay, good $$, custom work.

We had a kind of snooty neighbor and she remarked that she really liked our Gorman painting on the wall, but I told her we were temporarily putting
that one up because the other painting was at the frame shop. We put one of those fine oil paintings on black velvet and it had a pretty reasonable
frame. Poor lady did not know what to say when she saw it and I quoted some outlandish price that we had supposedly paid for it. After a week, she
finally said that if we find anything similar she would be interested in buying one for herself. (thinking us as trendsetters)
So I got her one. But I refuse to disclose what she paid for it.

What area are you looking at to purchase the stained glass?
I can recommend a very good place in Ensenada. Josue will even make one from your drawings.

Several good stained glass shops in the "Artisans Village" in TJ (those shops across from Smart & Final before you get into the border line).
Stock and custom pieces. There are always people copper-foil-wrapping the individual glass pieces for assembly. Just park and wander through the
shops- the stained glass ones are in the center. Everyone else just sells the pre-made cheap ones- not the real deal. If you like real stained glass
art, you know the difference.

Woooosh - that would be my advice too. Several shops in there to choose from. I had some custom cabinet doors done for my Erendira kitchen at one of
those shops and they came out very nice. I was going to have them do a couple more for me my next trip down. There shop was located all the way back
near the food court that borders the avenida internacional.

My Dad did stained glass as an indoor winter hobby (we lived in a snow zone). I started at 10- using the leftover glass pieces (that didn't break on
the intended "cut" line) to make things. My dad always used the copper foil and lead technique. I still have a beautiful art piece I made at age 15
sitting on the shelf next to my parents cremains. When I go to those Artisan shops in TJ- it's like a blast from the past and brings back great
memories. He went there once with me too on a Rosarito visit and it was hard to drag him out of there. I think he would have worked there if they
would have let him.  Of course having the glass piece on the shelf is wonderful
and very comforting too.

hi....don't know your location drzura but if it's anywhere near La Paz...a local artist is in a drawing/painting class with me at the Casa de la
Cultura. he also does stained glass, has a current exhibition of paintings and glass at the CdlC. his work is very good and reasonably priced. I
asked him if he would consider doing a stained glass dorado or such and he said 'sure.' I'll u2u with his name/email address...if anyone else is
interested, u2u me.
reality\'s never been of much use out here...
