Well, josie....seems you've hit your stride early on the Nomad board.
Good stuff from you in the heat of nonsense. Hope to see more of you here.

Oh my, goat 2 was banned, take a short nap.. really tired from shaking all those rocks out of my head, goat 1... and goat 2 is gone.. gee... and the question, still remains unanswered.. Is riding bicycles side by side a public safety issue on Mex 1?

Goat 1, you going to pick up, where goat 2 left off.... again :):)

There is a more interesting way to deal with disruptive message board posters, other than banning them. Some seem to just sign-up again with a new alias. I don't know if the software BajaNomad uses can handle it, but some message board software has a "reverse ignore" capability. When set, only the disruptive poster can see his own posts. He is invisible to all others. After posting rants and raves for awhile with no response, they usually just drift on.

After awhile when it was our turn to pass we saw what was causing the slowdown. It was two bicyclists riding side by side with a vehicle riding behind them providing protection, in essence blocking the entire southbound lane. There were plenty of places these riders could of pulled over to let the long line of cars pass but they were just riding along looking at the pacific and chatting, seemingly oblivious to the holdup they were causing. I was amazed at their brashness.

Curious if anyone else has ever seen this and if you think they had a right to their leisurely bike ride or were they being selfish for blocking the only lane going south?.

16 PAGES ! On bicyclists are stupid, auto drivers are not. My experience is the stupid riding driving is about equal. Boneheaded cyclists are equal to the number of car and trucks trying to kill me - not many.
Be aware a bike turns left when leaned right - so when the biker turns around rightside, he/she may turn into your path.
Also, late in the day, touring cyclists with baggage, may be tired so give them a break on it.

I was trying to figure out that one too. Was just about to go jump on a bike to see if I could duplicate it...

I think he means when you are on a bike and look back over your right shoulder, the bike tends to turn left------a potentially disastrous situation.

I THINK what he means is when a cyclist is looking over his/her shoulder, the bike tends to swerve in the other direction from where they are looking. Look over the left shoulder, swerve right. For me, if I look over my left shoulder, I swerve left. Not good.

I've biked thousands of miles and have yet to experience this phenomenon.

A better description of the phenomenon would be that you turn the handlebars to the right to initiate a left turn. I know it sounds funny but it is true. If you ride a bike or motorcycle you've been doing this all along and never noticed....dt

For me, when I look over my shoulder I usually lose control and crash.

Where do you people come from? Are you making this crap up? People who normally look over their right shoulder should not ride bikes (unless you are in a country that drives on the left).
If you are riding on the right, it is always easiest to look behind you by glancing over left shoulder to watch out for the AARP RV caravans behind you.

I ride a bike, and I vote with Lencho (I am from Earth---how about you?)---------the key phrase being "checking for an escape route" or words to that effect. When you look over/under your right shoulder you can do it all more efficiently, and that is exactly what I do, too. Never been run over yet, but I have taken to the boondocks a few times-------maybe saving my tail.

Dogmatic Goat is at it again.

Well, hopefully if you see that you are holding up a long line of traffic with that little mirror you will pull over and let everybody else pass at the first place it is safe to do so!
