One More Time..........FM-T
I've searched and read all topics on this forum and at the risk of redicule I have to say I am still a bit confused.
Hypo:
Going to a campo 33K south of San Felipe for 8 days so since I am staying longer than 7 days and technically south of San Felipe I would need an FM-T,
correct? Would be also correct then to assume that if any of the two said descriptions occur I would also need an FM-T (longer than 7 days or SOUTH
of SF).
I can get one at my AAA office, but it must be stamped as I cross the border? I can then mail it to (per a David K post):
Instituto Nacional de Migracion
Puente Puerta S/N
Colonia Federal
Tijuana, B.C. Mexico C.P. 22310
upon my return to the U.S.
Sound good?

Before the next big rollout, I really cannot see why anyone would actually think about returning their FM-T. If you get one for 180 days, you should
be able to use it for multiple crossings.

Technically they are supposed to be turned in before they expire... the address was one that Discover Baja provided so you do that... as there is no
easy way to stop by the INM office on your way out of Mexico.
Also what he said.... perhaps none of us ever has mailed it in... but do not bring an expired one back into Mexico and show it to the officer! Just
get a fresh one... People have reported getting yelled at for that!
You pay the same for 90 days or 180 days, so ask or fill in the 'for 180 days' in the box on the FM-T... and yes, use it again and again during that
period. Put down Cabo San Lucas or the furthest south in Mexico you might go in any future trip during the 180 days.

Por supuesto. We always put Cabo on the form, even if we're just going to Ensenada.

A similiar ? is on the discussion section, I don't believe
AAA handles fmt's any longer, there are many people
staying for weeks/months in SF and so. into the Campos without Immigration
papers, not legal though. I turn the fmt's in, a true
hassle at times, I generally hop out of the car
while waiting to cross at Mexicalli, walk to Immigration
get an exit stamp. Until Mex IMM scans
passports I don't see how they have much of a record,
but I try to abide with Mex Laws and Regs,
I think of it as courtesy

Actually quite interesting. But up until now, I have never seen any evidence that Mexico gives a culo de raton about this. Of course, when they
actually have all their records online, if will make a diff. I just cannot count the number of times we have been SOB and have never surrender our
FM-T with zero consequences when we applied for our next FM-T.

The ONLY purpose for migration and travel management forms in Mexico is REVENUE and the chance for a shakedown by a crook.
I have filed flight plans to and within Mexico for 35 years. NEVER ONCE has ANYONE asked if I closed one. I asked at the airport a couple of time
what they did with all of those flight plans. The officer said, "Senior we put them in a box every six months and send them to Mexico City."

But it is the 21st century. for the first time, I had the guy scan my passport at IMM at San Ysidro. Poor guy would have had a workers' comp claim 100
feet North, inasmuch as they gave him a PC, but he had to adapt to the cromagnon furniture in the room. Talk about repetitive injury.

people that are panicky or don't understand the lingo.
no worries there - they don't give a rat's pitooty - they just see it is expired and say you need a new one, then sell you one. i have done the dance
umpteen times.
only a Ricardo Cranium would yell at you over it - they don't waste their breath on normal work let alone extra.
