Pemex raises prices??

Say it ain't so! According to our Bible Gringo Gazz Pemex has raised magna 19% and Premio 23%, deisel 49% since Jan, 2010!! Es La Verdad? Food costs are also sky high here in the local markets. The inflation rate, if true, must be squeeezing the local people tremendously! No wonder home robbery continues to be a big problem. Any truth to this gloomy report? Tomas

Depends where in Baja you are. In general, the further you get from the border, the cheaper it gets. It's nothing sinister- just that border regions in Mexico change their pricing to match the USA side. Was supposed to prevent people crossing for cheaper gas in either direction. Maybe if Mexico gas was 25% less than the USA right now- people would cross more. Nah...

My understanding is that Pemex prices are universal throughout Mexico, with the exception of a clearly defined border zone. So, mostly likely, if prices went up in the Todos Santos area, they rose elsewhere, as well.

Unlike volume. Didja ever see four litres squeeze into a gallon can? It's just like magic.

True enough. But hasn't that situation actually improved in the past few years?

I don't pay any attention. Waddya gonna do?

Pemex was raising their gas prices 2% per month , but in the interest of heartfelt sympathy for the people, put a moratorium on that. Maybe it's back in place. I don't pay any attention to that either.

I wonder where GG & Carrie Duncan get their info& if they would corroborate their story? I don"t pay attention much to the gas prices either other than to see that premio is quite a bit more. If Deisel goes up substantially here in BCS then it makes sense the CFE will raise their rates!! I am anxiously waiting for my Jan-Feb electric bill. Vamos a ver!

Do a search on Nomad from 'BajaCactus' (the owner of El Rosario's Pemex) he posted this month's fuel prices about 10 days ago... He has previously posted the monthly new prices over the years many times.

I just paid 990 pesos to fill up the Ford Condominium with regular. It's a two tanker. I don't know how many gallons the truck holds, how many miles per gallon it gets, how many liters were pumped, nor how many liters per gallon this particular station spits out but it was a record fill-up!!

Good thing I had pesos, the station was exchanging at 12.1 to 1.

Lets not forget that the dollar buys fewer pesos today than a few weeks ago. What is it...12.55 to one....mas o menos?

Who cares. Just buy the stuff and head on out. It doesn't matter what they charge. You need it and they got it.

If you are buying it from the Pemex in Pescadero or the one in downtown Todos, you can add at least another 10% for what they are ripping you off for.
