gonzaga vs. la bay
mid may. it looks like our friends are bailing who wanted to go to gonzaga before the road gets there. we want to fish and explore the new (to us)
area(s). we want good camping where we can leave our camp all day while we fish or explore and have it there when we get back.
i asked and got many replies to gonzaga fishing so now, how is la bay in mid may? where to camp? who ti fish with? what kind of prices? other stuff to
do in the area? we'll probably stay 4 nights.

there are palapas on the south end of Gonzaga bay, and you could also rent one of alphi's rooms if your really concerned about your stuff.
Daggetts in LA Bay I prefer, his palapas are 3 sided to help with the wind which in both places will be an issue as that is a notoriously windy time
of year. We got stuck in GB for 2 days waiting to boat back to ptctos last may.

San Rafael is very nice but no palapas and no pangas (and no people). It's 100% bring yer own everything. Oh wait...Pancho does have vinegar for
sting rays and sculpins.

just a little north of town, theres another camp near there that had a upstairs restraunt. your stuff will be safe at daggets, we camped there for 4
days 10 of us, we didn't worry about our stuff, of course don't just leave expensive stuff laying around when your out fishing/exploring. he has a
panga there with a nice 4 stroke motor. had good yt action at south end of smith island on the iron that time of year.

I think you can gete a panga at Daggets.
And Larry and Raquel's is next door with a bar and restaurant upstairs.

Seriously Woody, if anyone asked for this kind of help for the Seven Sisters area, well... we all know how revealing you are!
Hope you have fun... Do try and see both Gonzaga and L.A. Bay... they are totally different from each other. Gonzaga is less than 40 miles from Hwy. 1
over a good Baja road (good means 2WD, not smooth). There is no 'town' at Gonzaga just the few tourist campos and vacation homes.
L.A. Bay is a full functioning town with restaurants, stores, taco stands, motels... and of course the campos. See Mia's web site (link I gave

Those three places are ALL tourist spots with different accommodations for different tourists. But they are Baja tourist destinations and all well
marked on all maps.
Soulpatch, I think Bahia de Los Angeles is a much better place for people to visit and settle---a lot better than Bahia Asuncion---talk about a dive.

I once stayed at Daggetts next to a group with ATVs. It was a terrible experience. Not only could you hear them driving those infernal things up and
down that road but the same thing down the row of campsites at Daggetts.
I'm sure it's not like that all the time but I don't experience that very often in baja.
Looks like another fine example of DavidK's self professed altruism going on here again.

Back to the topic.
La Gringa is really nice if you like seclusion, its north of town.
Beautiful spot.
We use Rafa Cuevas (pangero) he will put you on the fish.
Rafa will pick you up at La Gringa at sunrise in the panga.
In town we always stay at La Costa Del Sol.
Rafa's no. 011-52-200-124-91-01 give them your no. and he will call you back.

Woody, BOLA is usually our choice because you can leave your stuff, get some nice snorkeling or fishing and doesn't have a ton of people. That said
Daggets is where we store our stuff but we go out to La Gringa point to camp. Fairly alone, trash pickup each morning, $5 usd per vehicle a night,
GREAT view. A very good spot to kayak fish. No town noise or commotion. Close enough to town to get anything including some of China's tacos when
she's open. bg
