Hotel Las Arenas
Whatever happened to the hotel? Why did it close and will it ever reopen? Seemed like such a nice setting/perfect spot.

It was a great place, beautiful setting. Architecturally it was designed by the same person who designed Hotel Punta Pescadero, I think his name was
Escudero. Sorry to hear that it closed.

hotel las arenas de la ventana has been closed for several years now, around the late 80's and has changed hands at least a couple of times. rumor had
it that a gringo bought it and was going to make a private compound out of it. in the late 80's, i heard that engelbert humperdink, the singer, owned
it.
i spoke with a young man there last year that said he was a security guard for it and he told me they were going to develop the area with hotels,
houses, condos, etc. and another current rumor that they ran into problems with the equivilent of the coastal commission. it could also have run into
financial problems as did many large developements as in the states.
everything said down here is gossip until you confirm it, normally from the horses mouth or a reliable source.
BIEN SALUD, DA RAT

Yes it was. Our group had an annual trip there during the late 90s to early 2000s. We considered it to be the best fishing resort in baja due to it's
proximity to Muertos and Cerralvo. Muertos hadn't become Suenos yet.

Interesting about Humperdink. I knew he owned La Posada in La Paz, didn't know he was involved in Las Arenas.

It did, and reopened in the late 90's. Only to close again. Here is the link to an album I created back then for our first trip.
What the hell. Might as well provide the link to the 2nd as well.

Englebert Humperdink (Jerry Dorsey is his real name) looks more Mexican than English.
