exit stamp for FM3...by road?
I've never been able to get anyone to exit stamp my FM3 at Tecate. I've never exited at Tijuana. can it be done there? if so, where? thanks.
someone suggested that immigration in Guerro Negro might do it. any comments/current information on that?
reality\'s never been of much use out here...

It's an unreasonable thing to do. In TJ you have to figure out how to get to the Mexican immigration and ask them to stamp it and then figure out how
to get in line going north. The last time I did it I stopped on the way south and ask the guy to stamp it for both ways. He just rolled the date stamp
back for the exit date. Maybe GN would do that but the last 3 times thru there wasn't anyone there.

Never had to do it at any Port of Departure, CA or AZ.

one doesn't HAVE to do it, obviously. but if driving out and flying back in, the departure stamps don't match up to the arrivals and I've heard that
immigration can be sticky on that should they choose when moving from FM3 to FM2 to Immigrado.

If you are driving back down here....just skip it, sounds absolutely wrong, but it's their country. If you are flying back then you have to get it
stamped out to get it stamped back in...Getting it stamped out in Tijuana would be a nightmare. We tried getting stamped out in Cabo, which would be
easy for us, but that, of course, is not allowed. Santa Rosalia, however is allowed, and where we do it (which again makes no sense!) Loreto would
work but you would have to go into town (when I'm driving North it's not for sightseeing) Not sure about La Paz, but it would be out of the way too.
I'd never count on anything good happening in Guerro Negro and don't want to mess with Ensenada. Enjoy!

FM3 Stamp out
If you are likely to be late returning for renewal stamping out is supposed to give you a valid reason if you are not back in Mexico.
We only stamp out when we leave in the spring because our FM3's are due in December and if one of us got sick we could easily be later than that
date.
Only takes a minute or so at the Calexico East crossing.

This is exactly what I did a month go.
I crossed from Baja into the States with my RV at Tecate. Just when you leave the border into the USA there is a small strip mall just outside the
gate. I parked in that parking lot, walked into Mexico (maybe a 3 minute walk) and just on the right is immigration. I walked in, got my FM 3
stamped and walked back to my RV.
I still shake my head on how simple, quick and easy it was.

good, they must have changed, because the last time I drove out through Tecate, which must have been three years ago, they refused to stamp mine.
Santa Rosalia sounds like a good bet, too. I'm too well known locally to try it in Loreto.
yes, the problem is driving out and flying back. driving both ways I wouldn't worry about.

Not quite that simple. Did it a few months ago. After crossing into the US there is indeed a small parking lot. From there, we walked back into
Mexico and got our papers stamped.
Now, however, you have to cross back into the US. Have to cross the street and find the walk in facility. Not very well marked. There, we stood in
line for some time. And don't forget that now you have to show your passport and explain why you're there. They, the border officials looked at us
like we were "Loco"

Hola, a few years ago, i parked on the american side, walked south to nexican immigration and tried to get my fm3 stamped to no avail, walked back
north across the border and was chased down by three angry border patrol agents that gave me a verbal thrashing and then directed me to the american
customs.
hmmmm ! it seems to be more logical if they posted a sign advising you what needs to be done.
my accountant here in baja told me that i do not need to get my fm3 stamped unless i am wanting to get a mexican citizenship. didn't realize problems
could occur flying one way and driving the other but it does make sense. hopefully, no emergency would have me flying home as i don't have it stamped
coming into mexico.

How the heck are they going to put an exit (or entry) stamp on the new laminated driver's license size FM3/ FM2???

Well, I doubt they will be swipe cards.......a previous poster indicated that the Ensenada INM office had not received their "cards" yet, and you had
to sign them and add a fingerprint before they were laminated.......which would indicate they might not be the hard plastic cards with a mag strip or
a bar code............will have to wait and see
