Can't imagine that the price of Pemex would change your plans. Just know that Ensenada is one of my favorite places in the world, and would be looking forward to a trip report from you next week. Your La Fonda report whets my appetite because there are so many more places to see, stay and eat in Ensenada. You guys in the San Diego area are so much more fortunate than we grunts in the OC. When pondering a weekend getaway to Ensenada, we have to factor in the sometimes, (almost all the time) traffic on I-5 just to get to the border.

I'm after a comparison from the price I paid 2 weeks ago in Tecate to what it is in Ensenada. We have 77 gal cap in our diesel truck so filling it up down there subsidises our culinary day trips south. Last time the difference was $.60 gal, since then stateside is up another $.10 gal.

Not to mention the dollar gaining over the peso.

Last week I was only getting 11.80 pesos to the dollar, so that also drove up the price of my trip to LA Bay and back. I never did calculate the exact price per gallon for diesel, but it seemed like it is creeping up.

Last week in TJ the price was 8.21 Pesos / Liter. Worked out to ~2.50/gallon. The price is always the same at all Pemexes, does not vary as it is set by the government. The only thing that varies is the exchange rate at any given station.

Got this off the Punta Banda Newsletter
-----------------

Fuel prices / May 8th, 2010

New fuel prices, effective on May 8th, 2010...

Magna.............$ 7.89 pesos per liter
Premium..........$ 9.43 pesos per liter
Diesel..............$ 8.29 pesos per liter

These prices are in liters... since 1 gallon = 3.7854 liters and today (May 8th, 2010) 1 dollar = $12.20 pesos (+/-), we can calculate the approximate price per gallon:

Magna.............$ 2.45 dollars per gallon
Premium..........$ 2.93 dollars per gallon
Diesel..............$ 2.57 dollars per gallon

Happy and safe travels my friends!!!
