Reduced Ferry prices!
I was told that the Ferry Companies run 'Specials' that reduce the crossing price. Anyone have info regarding the reduced prices?
Our ideal trip to Baja would be to take a Ferry from Mexico Mainland into La Paz and leave via California. Problem is we have a big rig and the
regular Ferry Prices are too expensive.
Help!

Keep in mind that you will need to stop in TJ to have your vehicle import sticker removed and documented. You can't turn it in in La Paz, Tecate or
Mexicali, only TJ.

Do you know where in Tijuana one can turn in the car permits? It is quite easy on the mainland and we used to often turn them in at Tecate, but we
heard that was not possible any more.
So where in Tijuana?

I don't know the name of the street but its on the west side of where the taxis are at the San Ysidro crossing. I crossed the border in frustration
(Northbound) without turning it in and came back the next day after resting up. As soon as I crossed I turned right (against exiting traffic) where
the taxis park, drove through the lot and emerged on the other side, turned right and it was in that neighborhood. I don't remember what the sign said
on the building but the locals seemed to know where it was.
I know this isn't much help but I don't know TJ very well.....dt
Also, you must have the vehicle not just the sticker. I tried that, scrapped it off and walked across to turn it in. A very nice lady said "sorry, I
need to see the car to check the vin number, otherwise I don't know if you left it behind in Mexico".......of course, what was I thinking....

At least it is a general idea. Also, it seems that if romoc is pulling a big rig behind him, he might be better off to cross, leave the trailer on
the other side in an RV park, and drive back. The idea of pulling a big trailer while looking for something like that in TJ would be a nightmare!

Permit is not the problem as we live near Nogales and make trips into Mexico thu out the year. RV has 10 yr permit already. Problem was the High
Cost of crossing on the Ferry with a big rig. We have been traveling in mainland and baja for years but was trying to figure out a way to cross the
Sea of Cortez without breaking the bank.
