Rosarito
Anyone been down to Rosarito and Puerto Nuevo lately???? We have had alot of fun down there in the past but not sure how it is lately.
I have heard that is pretty dead. No more tourists, no more fun. We are planning to maybe do a trip down there for a few days.
Even a bad day in Baja is better then a good day somewhere else!

Rosarito is not as lively with turisticas as it was, just depends on the type of fun you are wanting, same with Puerto Nuevo, both have more activity
on weekends. Again it depends on what you are wanting to do for fun, most of us here always manage to have fun..............

Rosarito is certainly a bit quieter than in the past, but I personally like it better now. We come down almost every weekend, and will be down even
more with the summer coming up ( I am a teacher)
I feel the restaurants are really doing a great job. The owners/managers will often personally greet you and always thank you for eating at their
establishments. As always you can get some amazing food very reasonable in Rosarito.
We do tend to go out on the earlier side now, and if we go dancing usually stick to the Rosarito Beach hotel, just because they have more security.
Overall I feel fairly safe in Mexico, as a female I am driving down myself again if my husband is already there (which is often)
If you play golf the rates are much lower than they were years ago!

Puerto Nuevo livens up on Saturdays. Weekdays are dead.
Don't expect any lobster. (Check previous posts on Nomads). Villa Ortegas restaurant at the waterfront has the best bands. Plus they now have a new
waterfront enclosed patio, as well as the open waterfront patios, and the inside dining.
They have the best tortilla soup in town, and as far as their seafood is concerned it is on par with all the other restaurants in town.
My personal concerns are quality of food, waterfront proximity, and the music performers.
Puerto Nuevo has a branch of licores Don Pisto, who has the best booze prices in all of Baja.

I've heard restaurant prices have jumped up in Puerto Nuevo.

They are still way below many of the restaurants in Rosarito, and the atmosphere is much better
Average dinner is about $10.00 per peson.
BTW Villa Ortega's has the best margaritas in town.

UDO- Why no Lobster? I missed any conversation about that. That is/was the main attraction in Puerto Nuevo. I remember before the restaurants were
there, there were just little family stands in front of the lobster fishermens' houses. Are they fished out?

They still go out every morning and yes even tho it is not the season, they are still bringing in the lobsters..........
