La Ribera Marina
Hello All.
Any news / updates of the progress of the marina at La Ribera, BCS?
I was visiting the east cape end of '09 (had a great time) and was wondering how it was all 'playing out' ?
gracias

They have installed the breakwaters and are excavating the lagoon -- but going very slowly. Last I heard the first home was to start construction in
2011 -- a year from now.

These are true land developers. They developed Puerto La Salina near Ensenada and Lighthouse Point Estates here on East Cape touching resort Punta
Colorado. Their very picturesque brochures/ads/web sites show us the way they hope it will turn out, years from now, if they can sell all the
lots/land and somebody builds on it as it is laid out: homes here, condos there, etc. Baja Norte people can judge how Salinas turned out (after 12
years), about 30 houses now on the 486 lots they sold near the lighthouse here (after 8 years). I think the success of Cabo Riviera will hinge more on
world wide conditions than the plan, the work, the place, the prices.

I heard the big boats are there to beat the California taxes. There were two big marinas planned but the downshore drift took one of them off the plot
plan. The inner harbor has not worked out. The Five Star hotel they promised 12 years ago is the Salina Cantina now.

La Salina has had its problems, but is coming along very well by Baja standards. Great ramp, nice facilities, very secure. There is a permament group
of Marines there as well. They really need fuel in the marina, but that situation is better with the new Pemex at the Punta Prieda offramp 2 miles
north. Now if they could get even a small live bait operation going, it would be a jewel! My house in La Mision is close enough to see the breakers at
the entrance jetties. That and friends mean I'll keep my place in La Mision. I truly hope the marina in La Ribera becomes functional soon. A pretty
quick haul of the boat to a great fishing area when I get tired of La Paz. That
should take a few years, just like the marina. They were slow and steady at La Salina, and it came out fine. The same people should be able to get the
same results in La Ribera.
