today my 11 year old nephew took me for a boat ride
we saw 5 small dorado jumping
by the fishcamp just south of jingle beach
a couple were reported caught there last week
lots of jumping fish ...silver looking
lots of frigets and other birds around
we had fish for lunch

You kidding? I'll never reveal who I really am on a fishing board. Or my sources. Or my catch. This isn't a political stance. It's much more
important than that.
You cant make me!!! I'll take the fifth............but would prefer the 1.75 liter size.
If the fishing community knew who I really was, I'd be extradited back to the US to face charges of singlehandedly fishing out the Sea of
Cortez............without paying off SEMARNAT.

Have you ever seen the advertisement of a group of people working on an idea, and someone comes up with a great idea and a solution, and it looks a
little like a wild stallion (small, powerful, capable, muscled, and wily) but by the time it passes through comittee, it looks a little like an
elephant front, with a zebra behind, and a gnu-beast in the middle, but wait is that actually a giraffe neck, and the tail can only have come from
someone's imagination.
I too, am a lot like Osprey, and it got to be a real pain in the behind when people who would never otherwise stop by and see me, would either bring
complete photos or a dried out fish, some even going so far as to having written a small congratulatory piece of their own catch. The other bad thing
was, God forbid, that I somehow did not mention someone from the trailer park who had caught a nice fish and he and all his buddies would raise cain
that he got omitted.
I have never seen anything quite like fishing that gets peoples egos so involved. I used to hear people in our area spend a lot of time worrying
about whether they might have outfished San Marcos Mike for the day, like that somehow made them really good fishermen. I still find it amazing that
Pompano responded as quickly as he did when I wrote a small tribute to Mike and had to find fault with some little part of the recognition which was
more about the person than anything else. And I am sure I could learn a lot of fishing lessons from Pompano if I were to go out with him (especially
on learning how to land a co-pilota).
So Bob may be absolutely right, it might well be a project that was doomed from the very beginning. Perhaps it is as it has been for quite some
time. If I want to know what is going on at the East Cape, I call my friend Osprey, or Bill Erhardt at Loreto and Mag Bay, and it just may be too
monumental of a task to think that we might actually get some small indication of what might be going on in a particular area. I, like my friend Hook
(I know his secret identity but you do need a secret decoder ring) know that we do not need to build up the numbers or the size of the fish we catch
because they are all monsters anyway.

sized all my gear. My fish are twice as big now!
However we are talking about "fishermen" .

I'll just say, I truly enjoy all of the information you guys and gals put up about you're fishing: tackle, boats, equipment that you use to get around
(really like Russ's little off road deal, too cool)... plus pictures and the reports with the added information about all kinds of stuff in the area,
from Cartel's, Co-pilots, Carne Asada, shrimp tacos.. and all the rest... under wear on the line.. just great
Don't seem to find a bad thing over here.. maybe some might start the old fish stories.. but, then that is fishing... something I used to be able to
do.. and now am able again through all your posts.. thank you very much... all of you.. did not mean to single out Russ... just liked his little off
road set up..
The toys some guys get are just to neat... plus I like his temp gauge... too and his sunrise shoots ....

All kidding aside, when I am able, I will start posting. Others will, too, I predict. Looks like Bill Ehrhardt has begun some.
Let's see how it goes................probably no pics from me. I really hate the size limitations here and dont enjoy the hosting services, either.

A fish story and/or pictures are all welcome here, in my view!! someone was talking about hooking up with a Marlin in a 14' or 15' boat.. don't think
the individual would be taking pictures.. would imagine ones hands would be occupied... just guessing..
Know one can "hook-up" about anything.. getting it in.. another story.. getting a picture ... another story again.. and lets not forget about the
meal.. hell, I like to hear about folks different techniques in BBQ's, smoking.. all of it..
And Osprey, your doing pretty good to be holding up that fish.. as it looks to be a good sized one to me...
Had never heard of wrapping halibut in bacon.. (watch out for the bacon police) and cooking it over a BBQ fire of mesquite wood ... the thought right
now is giving me ideas of going to the refrig...
Wonder if Juan, gets to read these fishing threads?

Geez, I have seen that picture of Osprey before. Anyway, if everyone is in agreement, then we at least need to post in the Fishing Section and let's
see where it goes, Who knows, maybe Doug can get a good deal with WON and they will buy the reports.

Well, here goes:
I crawled out of bed just as the sky was starting to lighten up and since I knew I did not need lots of bait for the quarry this morning, I managed
to take enough time to brew a pot of coffee for the thermos. Sliding the boat off of the trailer, everything, including the motor seemed totally in
tune and ready to fly. I passed the bait hole and noticed some of the pangueros still trying to add an extra Mackeral or two and then I noticed how
red the island looked with the sun rising just behind it and the clouds made the whole rock look like it was on fire. When I slid up on my magic spot
on the GPS, it was with eager anticipation that I rigged up my rod and put a nice piece of fresh squid on the two dropper hooks. Sure enough, on
first drop, there were some big boys home and I had a take almost immediately. When the fish came to the boat, I knew it was slightly undersized, so
I immediately released it and went back for another. I was rewarded with a hard tug as soon as I got close to the bottom and knew I was into a real
keeper. I kept repeating this process until I had 10 very nice Spotted Bay Bass in the cooler for a fish fry that I was having for a few friends that
evening.
After filleting out the fish and putting them in the refrigerator, it was time to make a light batter and bread the fillets with Panko. From the
smiles on everyones face that evening, I knew the fishing was a real success for the day.
Now Kat, try to find that one in the fishing newspaper.

pescador... worked just fine without the pictures.. give us an update on the fish fry of those Spotted Bay Bass, don't think I have ever caught or
eaten one... thanks..
and would appear the early bird does get the worm.. and it does bring back some really good memories of getting up and going fishing... thanks much
