San Ysidro-Friday-Pedestrian Crossing
Can anyone suggest a good time to return to the US via San Ysidro pedestrian lane on Friday? We plan on walking across this time to get our FMMs
before we head down this weekend. We'd like to break up our trip down so we can watch the games this weekend...and no, I'm not talking about
Wimbledon.
Thanks in advance.

Late afternoon, 3 - 5 PM would probably be best but it's difficult to predict. This past Monday I walked across around 12:30 PM and it took 1.5 hours.
I've done it at 5 AM and 3 PM and walked right up to border guard, no wait. I've also gone at 3 PM and waited over an hour.
It all depends upon the number of people in line and how fast the questioners are moving people through. There are always 100s of people in line in
the morning going to work but they move them through quickly.

I usually crossed late afternoon just before dusk...less chance of sunstroke and usually less people (not always though)!!
Good luck and have fun! Can't wait to see you guys!

Welcome to BajaNomad, Bayrunner. I'm not sure what you may be saying up there, but I'll run it through Google translator.

The fastest way to cross back to the US from TJ is to take the Mexicoach.
You will have about a 20 minute wait.
Walking back throuhg US customs is generally 1.5 hrs. wait. Busses have their own dedicated lanes.
But just as easy to buy a round trip Mexicoach. $6.00 U.S. and leave from the same parking lot you parked in earlier.

I don't know how comparable Thursday is to Friday, but, fwiw, my wife and I crossed form Mexico to USA at San Ysidro crossing at about 3pm yesterda it
was the lightest I have seen it for the last several years. The pedestrian line started at about where the two liquor stores are. Not bad, the line
went fairly quickly...this time.

We crossed into Baja and got our FMMs in about 15 minutes total. Coming back we waited for 45 minutes in line...easy trip...this time.

Just crossed walking at 5:00 AM (Sunday) to pick up my mail in San Ysidro, no wait. The car lines looked to be about 20 minutes.
Yesterday afternoon around 3 PM I heard on the radio the car lines at SY were 3 hours.

It will be unusually slow for a while today as Mexico plays Argentina.

About one month ago I walked passed everyone to the Sentri line. No one said a word to me for passing them and I saved about 1 1/2 hours.

I have a Sentri card and when I cross, I have seen people that have done that taken back out and going to the very end of the line. kind of makes you
chuckle!
