visa question

Are the 180 day tourist visas good for one trip south, or could I use it again within the 180 day period on another trip? I had also heard that those were supposed to be surrendered before leaving Mexico as well. I asked the agent and he told me not to bother.

How would they know if you left the country or not? I wouldn't get another if I had one that was still valid.

Just got back from La Paz yesterday. My wife had her fmt that she obtained in late January 2010 and when leaving the TJ airport yesterday after arriving there on a Voalris flight from La Paz, the Mexican border agent asked to see her visa. She showed him her fmt. He looked at it, returned it to her and sent us on our way. I will conclude from that, that an fmt is acceptable and valid until it expires after 180 days.

Definitely good for the 180 days. Got one when I drove down in May then showed it again when I flew down on Volaris last week.
