Fishing Licenses in La Paz

My children decided to fly in on Monday but won't have a chance to buy their licenses in the States before they leave due to work. Does anyone know where they can be purchased in La Paz?

Try the Tailhunter office on the malecon. If Jonathan or his wife don't have them, they will know where to go!

Alan......Or, you can get them online. http://www2.ebajacalifornia.gob.mx/Pesca/index.jsp?i=Eua
When my daughter was down in April we forgot to get her a license until the night before we were going fishing. Ten minutes online and we printed out her new license. If you use the site, click on the US flag to get English......

Thanks to all for your quick responses. Just got back from Tailhunter's with two licenses in hand.

Thank you Bill for that website. I'm going to bookmark that in case I need it in the future.

Glad to be of help Alan! Jonathan and his wife, Jill I believe, are nice people. I'll be living in La Paz soon, I'm sure you and the rest of the Nomads will be there when I have a million more questions than they've already helped me with. :?: 99% of the people on this board are awesome! Then there's the 1%ers:no: Good luck fishing with the kids!!

Marina La Paz is the easiest.

I only have two weeks left before I have to return NOB for some family functions but I'll be returning some time in October and would look forward to meeting you and any other Nomads in the area. Perhaps a lunch at Jesse's. If I can answer any questions you have I'll always give it my best shot.

Yes I love this board too but every place has it's 1%ers. I just figure they add color.

It's kind of like Louie Andersen discussing his crazy family members. As he says "Everybody has them in their family somewhere. It isn't just one family in Minnesota producing all the crazies in the world".

I am the crazy in my family! I'm moving to Baja? I must be crazy! Just ask my very large family. They will all tell you I am off my rocker. Jesse's place for lunch? Any day!:bounce: Oh, I'm from Michigan, not Minn.

How much extra was the license at the Tailhunter?
How much commission did you have to pay?

Last time I got my license at Marina La Paz they didn't want to do it unless we had a boat berthed there. They did finally sell me one but she made it clear that it was a service they offer for their tenants and she was doing me a favor.

I had a great lunch at their little cantina. They were busy, but both took several minutes to talk, and being who I am, I had a lot of questions!!

FWIW, I was told by an official at the La Paz Office of Tourism (1/2KM from Wal-Mart) on the Carretera Norte that fishing licenses can be obtained at the Palacio de Gobierno. The Palacio is a big place and occupies an entire block. One corner of this place is at Nicholas Bravo and Av Isabel La Catolica. My guess is, if the advice was correct, one could probably get the license there without commission or fees, but I am just guessing.

My license expired on 6-30-10, so I am in desperate need of the license as I will be going to La Paz on an extended fishing trip next week. I will verify all this and post my findings here.

Anyone else going fishing in La Paz in early July?

I'd try the online link revealed earlier. I do prefer face to face transactions. Just oldfashioned I guess! Hanging around, and spending money at the local tackle shops, ramp facilities, BARS, has usually paid off in either friends, or good info, or BOTH!

why "fight the wave"
it's 2010

you're on the internet

just get the license online

it's WAY harder for a tourist to "muck around"
looking for the correct govt offices
