what is an hombre vivo
not only a man that is a live. it is a derogatory term and i thiink it means a user or someone that lives off of women but i am not usre. thanks!

This is an interesting thread. Four definitions and counting.
I just searched for a definition and found "a clever man".
So that's 5 definitions.
nancyinpdx, do any of these definitions fit the context within which you heard the term used?

Well....."a clever man" and "a con man" are "almost" synonymous.
So, if you haven't been "conned" yet, just call him "clever"

True, con men would be a nefarious subset of clever men.

As in many mexican phrases...you glean the meaning by listening to HOW the phrase is used, tone, inflection, situation. And of course many phrases
change meanings depending on the area..
For example here in our village, if someone is a con man he is MUUUUY vivo with the stress on muy...this is the most commonly used phrase for this
type of person.
another meaning used here but with no stress on the "muy" and more stress on the the first two letters of the word VIVO (thus prounounced
BEEbo....means someone who is intelligent or clever and is not derogatory but rather a compliment when talking about how smart a fellow is.
I have never heard it referred to in our pueblo meaning a jigalo.
