veterans health availability
i've considered a move to ensenada. i am being tested and treated by the veterans clinic every few months so i'm interested in other vets who travel
to chula vista or san diego for services. thanks for your input.

Go for it. I live in La Paz, use VA in La Jolla twice a year for health care, far superior to what's available in Mexico, have no complaints at all
despite the long distance travel. As a matter of fact I'm at the hospital now, as I write this. Had a colonoscopy yesterday (came up clean) and
don't remember a thing about it, thanks to the nice drugs they dispense here. Worst part of the experience was the two-day fast that's required.

There are so many vets down here that use the VA services. Going there is just a routine you live with. When you get down here, you'll figure out the
best and easiest way to do it.
One thing...you will live far enough away that you'll be able to use the Lodger Unit. Spend the night and eat all that wonderful hospital food, which
isn't all that bad there and it's all on the taxpayer.
Thank You taxpayers. Maybe if you would kick down a few more tax bucks, we could enjoy some fine wines with dinner.

The Va care is wonderful at that hospital. Also you can see your primary in Chula Vista or several other locations. They also have buses that will
take you from a primary clinic to the hospital if you need one.

Signing up for VA was the best thing I've done. Too bad it took me so long to figure it out. I encourage all vets to look into it. $0/month verses
$1300/mo for health insurance is like a payday. Thank you taxpayers!
I did the colonoscopy last trip up and it was clean too Bajajazz. Good on us. But I got to watch the camera although I don't remember much and I'm
sure it's not playing on You tube. Had an MRI and other things which I would
have had to fight to get under private insurer. The MRI found a kidney stone which I'll have to address in Oct when I'm up and hopefully not before.

Without a doubt, the best care around . Although coming from the SF bay are I thought that the care delivered to at the Palo Alto/ Livermore group was
better .You still can't beat the VA . There are many people I talk with today are envious that they don't have the use of the VA . My answer to them
are "you missed your chance, all you had to do was service your country"

I agree the VA healthcare is excellent. I have used it here in New Orleans for the past two years, we currently only have outpatient services. The
new hospital should re-open in 2013, have not had a hosptial since Katrina, but I was living in Puerto Vallarta during that disaster. Will be in
Ensenada at the end of October for a couple of weeks to see about making the move. Thanks for all the info.

I'm a vet but elected to be covered by private insurance. My fairly complicated health care is provided by UCSD, probably one of the finest teaching
hospitals in the U.S. So I can attest to the quality of VA healthcare, because just about every doctor I use has a dual appointment at the VA. I was
even told by one of my cardiologists to look him up at the VA if I ever changed coverages. I'm not sure what the differences are between the two
institutions, but I would be very confident using the VA hospital and doctors.
