My wife is a general doctor in La Paz. Her English is just fine. She is awaiting a slow to happen job at one of the hospitals, and working at a clinic in town. What type of doctor are you needing? If it is a specialist, I'll have her ask around. She is new in La Paz, and just meeting people in her industry.

Hola redmesa, i have heard several times from different people in los barriles that if a person needed major medical attention, they advise going to the " purple hospital " in la paz as it is staffed with specialists in most fields.

sorry, i can't remember the hospital name, lacking in brain cells. i'm sure someone will post it for me.

for opthalmology, the younger of two dr. lechugas is supposed to be excellent and has the latest of modern equipment. english speaking too, so i hear many, many times over the years.

if it isn't too time consuming, can you post the u2u's received here as i am sure there may be others that could use the general information.

i thank you in advance,

BIEN SALUD, DA RAT

The purple hospital is Fidepaz, just off the highway to the right as you come into La Paz from the north. It's about 10 blocks before you come to the store formerly known as CCC, I think. Not sure of the distance, but there is a sign to the Fidepaz district over the highway.

A good person to see is Dr. Buenaventura Diaz. His office is right next to the hospital. Best to call ahead if you can, his office number is 612-124-1001. He is an internal medicine specialist, and speaks English.
