We've been there many times, both flying in and driving. We've camped and also rented a "cottage" a few times. We love it there and always look
forward to returning. The estuary is really something if you are into bird watching. There is good fishing in the estuary too. The restaurant changes
management often it seems but it is usually open and pretty good. It's a great place to kick back and do nothing (my specialty).
It's been a year since we've been there so if someone has recent experience it would be appreciated....dt

as posted above - I stopped by there last week - open. The fishing coop. has signs posted to not drive on the beach. I found out they were posted
to protect the sea turtles and there were alot of them.
Campo Rene is just south of Abreojos (about 15-20 min)

I joined BBP shortly after Senterfitt started it, paid my dues for many years, and considered it a great value. I got a lot of reliable information
from them and did several of their fly-ins. If I were still flying I would pony up the $49 in a heartbeat to participate in the forum.

Thanks! That's all i really needed to know.
The BBP discussion may be continued on my other post "Mytsery Aircraft"
Probably more appropriate there.

Estero Coyote at Campo Rene has the northenmost mangroves in the western hemisphere. Great bird watching and some fun yak paddling and fair fishing.
Good times.

I was there in late February or early March of 2008 and really enjoyed the visit. Other than the folks running the restaurant, I was the only one
there. Food was good; shower even better. The bird watching was great.

Yes it's open, or at least it was in July. July 25 to be exact.
Restaurant was not serving food but the bar was open and the rum and cokes tasted great.

That's why the wind blows onshore there all day long and the waves are always awful.
