RV BBQ or Grill
What type of portable BBQ or grill (propane or charcoal) do you use when you are RV'ing or camping????
I have been looking at these two:
Propane - http://www.cobbq.com/Portable-Grills/26-Other-Grills/64-Outd...
Charcoal - http://www.cobbq.com

ABSOLUTE hands-down....this guy!
The feet come up to swing into place to lock in the lid. Easy to clean. I wear out one every 6-8 year of very heavy usage-

Things are expensive, but at least we get a free trip around the sun once a year

We have been using the small portables for a long while.. I prefer using charcoal, the wife like propane... for me charcoal gives a bit of a better
taste ... just me
However, either are very easy to stow and bring out for use.....
Ditto's with Iflyfish ... some kinda guy there....

I think so., but I will go look in a minute or so.
We just bought it a few weeks ago at a Walmart. Was not very much $$...maybe less than 25 bucks.
And so easy to assemble. It works fine!
p.s. I like this type better than any of our propane models. I always seem to run out of those damn fuel bottles just when we need them!

Yes...cook with charcoal or good wood. Handier when in the boondocks and no fuel supply closeby.

I was thinking that a small propane grill working off of a 20lb propane tank would be easier and "cleaner" than dealing with charcoal

bajaguy, we have used both and still use the propane model (with a large tank). It a trade-off versus good taste and easy cooking with us.
Charoal or mesquite creates a better taste.
Propane is quicker, easier to control temps, etc.
Your choice.

I am a grilling snob and I am right at home with propane or charcoal, but, if I am using charcoal, you must own a charcoal starter (the chmney type
with newspaper at the bottom) and I will not use charcoal lighter fluid, it is nasty.

The small propane grills are great for things like hot dogs, ribs and chicken but don't get hot enough to properly cook a steak or tuna.
We carry a small gas grill and a grate to put over the camp fire for things that need to be cooked at a hotter temp. One of each of the small Weber
units along with the charcoal chimney starter would cover everything but would also take up a lot of room.
Sometimes you can get lucky and find something laying around to make a BBQ with if you have a grate.....

some of the newer ones even have the infrared
Check these guys out.. they make some pretty good stuff
http://www.napoleongrills.com/
I got one of these....
Freestyle™ PTSS215PI Infrared
Was way too hard to clean .. but, it did a super job on cooking a steak.. on propane...
They may have improved.. the design... think it was around $300 dollars...
I like the Walmart... $25 dollar ones.. using charcoal, like the rather slow way you get to cook your stuff
If I did have good wood ... would use that... my Dad always used hard wood.. and in a pinch would step down to charcoal... and he didn't use a started
either ... was some kind of purest...
Smoke his fish the same way... over hard wood for a long while.. our neighbors just hated it when he went out.. fishing.. as the smoker in the back
yard would be going for a long while.. I always liked the smell.. go figure...

I don't need any of that stuff. Over thirty years ago, I decided to eat nothing but left-overs. Clean-up is a breeze.

West Marine carries several charcol and gas BBQ's designed for boaters, but adaptable for RV's. They tend to be a bit pricey, but most are fine
quality and last under adverse conditions.
Cut and paste the following link to go to their on-line catalog.
http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SiteSear...
I'm a boater, not an RV'er so maybe I don't know what is needed, but this offers a choice.

Sorry, really pretty neat little unit (charcoal) .. and would appear to do a darn good job on a low amount of fuel... liked the ability to move
around easily while cooking... and less smoke, easy clean up of the grill
Overall, a nice little unit..
the propane unit... did not have the video.. but looks to be a good unit too... and would serve one well....
